Hi Guys
Just bought a new VY SS Front bar and grill for my SV8. It is currently being painted and should be ready tommorow. Can anybody give me a good description and possibly pics of how to remove a VY front bar. I have done a search and have read a few contradictry ways of doing it. I know there are the 2 screws on either side of the wheel arch and also I think 3 on top of the grill. Is there anything else like bolts or clips?
Thanks

3 on top 2 each side grab one side of bumper from the wheel arch and give it a tug then do the other .
the first time you do it it`s a bit of a worry as you think you will brake it but it just all clips together

hey mate
there are two on left wheel arch, 2 on right wheel arch, there is one screw on the bottom of bar in each corner, behind the number plate there are two clips ( the centre unscrews ) and the two at the top.
once undone bar clips of, don't be scared as the side is clipped in and may need a little strength.
hope this helps
cheers

Thanks for the replies. When you say to give it a pull from the side do you mean to pull it out away from the side of the car or pull it towards the front of the car.
Thanks

If you don't mind me asking, what was the total cost, bar and paint??
And are you going side skirts and rear bar??
Some time ago I was quoted around $350 for front bar and $60 for each side skirt (unpainted).

Front Bar cost me $285 brand new and got it painted for $150. I already have a Holden By design body kit on it but just wanted to change the front bar.
Can anybody else give me there experiences on removing and fitting VY front bar?
Thanks

When you say to give it a pull from the side do you mean to pull it out away from the side of the car or pull it towards the front of the car.
You gotta pull it sideways.
Here's what I did when I removed mine on Monday:
1. Removed 2 screws in each wheel arch;
2. Loosened 3 screws above grille; (They were "Loctited" in on my car)
3. There were no screws behind the number plate or underneath the bar anywhere on my car;
4. On passenger's side - lifted the front of the bar slightly with my left hand and pulled the bar outwards from the wheel arch with my right. It felt like I was going to break something, but then it just popped out. It is clipped in from the top, so it will be easier if you pull it from the top. Did the same thing on the driver's side;
5. Completely removed the 3 screws above the grille;
6. It almost fell off at this point; disconnected the fog light wires and removed the bar.
Make sure you have a blanket ready for it to sit on. I didn't. I just sat it on the concrete and now have two small scratches on it... :o
Incidentally, I found some what looks like a build sheet or checklist of some sort folded up sitting inside the metal bumper... Someone at Holden is busy... :weirdo:

Thanks Guys. All done today. Only had one problem where I lost 2 of the metal clips that hold the headlight protectors on so now I have to try and buy some more. Does anyone know if I can buy these from holden without having to purchase the whole headlight protector again? What a pain in the ass.

Yes, you can buy a service kit. If my memory serves me correctly it was almost the price of a set of protectors.
