Hey Guys,
Spoken to a few people recently about getting 4>1 extractors (Difilippo) for my VZ SSZ Ute. Apparantely if you fit these extractors and dont get a tune at the same time, you lose power... but only in a VZ. Anyone had any experiences with this? Was just concerned, as getting an LS1 Edit tune as well as high flow cats and extractors, fitted, pushes the cost up to almost $3000.
Any comments would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Scott

fitting tri-y's would give you better bottom end than 4 into 1's but it comes down to what do you want to achieve with the car in the end?
i changed my exhaust twice because my objectives had changed.

when i fitted tri-ys and a zorst i lost power - but the zorst wasnt the best so i got rid of it and did a computer reset and gained back my lost rwkw with the stock exhaust back on...i guess you could say that with tri-y's alone i was fine then...it CAN happen but i think it may be more the exception than the rule...i would do it anyway, coz in the end it will do more good than harm...but yeah computers can learn some nasty habits

We have got a new set of short 4>1 extractors with 1-3/4" primaries finishing in 3" that fit up to the standard cat. They are $990 in ceramic coating or $590 in mild steel.
The better option is to replace the standard cats with 5" body stainless substrate cats as the holes are twice the size. These cats are $450 each.
The O2 sensors remain in the same position so re-tuning is not necessary. The standard tune in the LS2 is very rich, so I would put a tune on the shopping list for later as you will make a lot more power from being tuned.

I had a set of these fitted yesterday (finally!) along with a sureflow catback and had the cats opened up. She goes on the dyno tomorrow afternoon for the "after" power run. I'll post before and after dyno sheets in the Sureflow forum so keep an eye out.
PS Greg will look after you

I fitted D/F 4-1 1.75s to my rig which has twin 2.5" D/F catback and 2 hole airbox.
I GAINED 12rwkw (over the cat-back alone) - I don't have the car tuned yet.
They are good pipes, buggers to get on, but worth the trouble and give good results.

Macca
