I think he's talking about the little chrome strip that is fitted to the VY-VZ Calais (and Berlina?) in the middle of the leading edge of the bonnet...

I took mine off my VY SS so if anyone is interested in getting one slightly cheaper in perfect condition, send me a PM. ;)

Don't these chrome strips require a different bonnet? Berlina or Calais?

Thanks heaps for these part numbers, I went to order mine yesterday and the Holden parts guys had no idea what I was talking about, they even asked 'what chrome bit on the front of a Calais bonnet? You sure there is one?'

Luckily I had printed these part numbers out and taken them with me, came 4 hours later. Bit more expensive than quoted here, but who cares, should look great when fitted on the weekend!!!

Mate, would you mind telling us where from did you buy the "Chrome Lip" and how much you've paid for it.
I', in Brisbane too and looking to do the same ;-)

Zupps Mt Gravatt's current price is $154.05

BEWARE

I got mine from westpoint parts at Sumner Park, which is very close for me, I'd spend the extra $20 in fuel(in the 6.0L anyway) getting to Mt gravatt so the saving wouldn't be worth it for me, plus I got mine on the way to work, so I couldn't get over there anyway during the day. Depends whether you want convenience over cost saving!

Paid $175 with all the bits needed, 1 day delivery wait. Bare in mind this is for a VZ, VY would be different.

I'm happy!

SecretSquirrel, Fezz is a pro, check out his site at www.hioctane.com.au for heaps more awesome pics....mostly of rotors though:headbang:

just trial fitted mine, it looks really good, makes the lower edge of the bonnet more straight and takes away that cut-out look from the middle, I like it alot.

I am going to refit it on sunday with a thin line of sticky foam between the bonnet and the mould just so the mould doesn't rub on the paint!

By the way, the screws in part no. 92138638 are not needed, so you can save a few $$$$ the screws come with the bracket!!!

Sorry this has taken a week, but done now, so here are some pics for those interested, looks nice a classy on the silver, doesn't stand out too much which is good. With the Chev grille it looks nice, with the standard Holden grille it slightly cuts the top of the lion and gives the front a bit of an eyebrow look!

To each their own, so I do not mean to rubbish somebodys' car. But...am I the only one who thinks it looks odd or unfinished with a lone strip of chrome halfway across the bonnet? Remember in the old days when the VH SLEs had chrome surrounding headlights and fully across bonnet? That looked more finished. I will be keeping my VZ natch.
I also think $125.00 is a lot to spend on it, but I think 240 is a lot for a Chev grill but I paid it LOL.

BEWARE

It looks unfinished on a VY I think, but the VZ has raised sections down the bonnet which come from either side of the grille, the chrome section fills that void nicely between the bumps and takes away the little notched up section and makes the bonnet look flatter and flush the whole way along, it just makes the grille look a little more complete too in my opinion. It adds a bit of customisation and class aswell.

$240 is a bit steep for a grille, I got mine for $150 off ebay :D

Agreed. I actually should have qualified my remarks as I had not seen the pic of your VZ. Also the Chev grill sets it off.

Still not going to get one. Anyway my wife wont let6 me spend any more after she found out what I spent on the grill.

To make a long story short, I've got (finally) a quote from Zupps Mt Gravatt and it's $203.28 (is that because few months passed and we have huge inflation which we're not aware of, or Holden gives a different prices to different customers?)

Anyway, I have been told that I might have to drill into the
bonnet to make it fit...

Any suggestions?

you do not have to drill any holes!!!

prices probably will vary, try Westpoint at Darra.....mine was cheaper than $203, but not $154.....can't remember exactly but around $170 for all parts required(you need the strip and bracket plus all bolts/screws)

Thanks mate. I wasn't expected to drill my bonnet but Mt. Gravtt's "mechanic" told me so... Strange, they should know better.
Also, I've done my research all over Brisbane and everywhere the prices are above $200. WESTPOINT Indooroopilly quoted me $238.61. Didn't called Darra because I reckon the price should be about the same in same company and it's a bit too far for me.
I'm still waiting for a quote from Redcliffe and than I'll decide where to go. I'll post it here.

Cheers!

mmm seems Holdens 'mechanics' don't know shit. They resprayed my front bar under warranty and I asked them to fit a sedan lower grille I suppiled purely as a convenience thing as they had the front bar off anyway. They tried to tell me it wouldn't fit etc etc, I didn't even have to remove the front bar to put it in myself, just slot it in down the upper grille hole and it fits perfectly.....useless dickheads they are!
