Welcome to the Motorcycle sub-Forum.

This forum is for Motorcycle discussion and a temporary home for the netrider.org.au forum/users. I encourage the users of the old netrider.org.au site to sign up and participate in this mature and friendly forum.

Although this forum is primarily a Holden Forum there are quite a significant number of existing users who have Motorcycles (including myself) as well as many displaced users from the old netrider.org.au forums that were stolen to warrant a subforum and possibly if the interest/activity is there a sister forum to the Holden forum in the future.

Please remember to read the Forum FAQ and understand the rules.

good move!
but
Sidey, I also have a look at the Nutrider forum now and then
(been there a lonnng time) and I sorta remember
the outrage there when you stepped up to the plate last time
and claimed what was yours...which btw, I have no problem with.
I have no conflict being here..or there
coz I am happy to talk cars and bikes with anyone

as I said, nice to see a bike forum here
coz i am sure lots of us car nuts also ride
(hard to beat a bike mate  )

cheers

Smitty,

Don't get me started on the underhanded and shady actions of the individuals in question. Netrider was my vision and idea ever since the Sydride and Melbride days in the mid 90's. It's also public record form the posts on ausmoto all those years ago :) I just CBF'd fighting them for the content and the org.au domain redirects here. If there is the traffic and demand for a standalone entity then I'll be looking to go down that direction for sure.

appreciate the reply

from the replies here (LS1) re bikes (lots seem to ride)
you may have the numbers for a standalone

Also www.netrider.org.au redirects to here so hopefully we will have some new members to show for it as well. :)

Hi,

I am interested in the bike forum. I have just purchased a new Harley Softail Custom - yes, it is my midlife crisis fix.

All jokes aside, I have had two other harleys in the past (superglide and an electraglide) about 12 years ago.

Just started riding again after a bit of a break - still a bit nervous and probably should do the Stay Upright Course to refresh my skills (sounds like a good Xmas present).

Whilst I regularly drive in Sydney, riding the bike in this city gives me a new perspective on the stupid, aggressive antics of drivers who seem to recognise no limits on their conduct and lack of concern for others; eg I saw a woman this morning driving above the speed limit in a school zone doing her makeup whilst holding her compact in her left hand with the mirror in front of her face blocking her view of the road!

If that frightens you, don't come West to WA!!! They're all mad here: rude, aggressive, careless and very proud to remain so. At least a few are armed, or willing to use force, so chatting bad drivers can be risky. The traffic is easy, so no-one has to drive well, and so no-one does. (see: Volvo drivers disease) I have to be very awake all the time, and sold my Honda Elite because the mental effort to be safe was too great. It was the most difficult/dangerous thing I've ever ridden, because of its limitations, the bad roads themselves and the other road users attitudes. I couldn't bring myself to ride it as if they didn't matter to me. My life was at constant excessive risk from other people's actions, not my own, and I wasn't willing to keep up the effort. Riding was a chore, and extremely risky. My 250's can't outrun them, and even if I had something faster, I can't ride well enough to get away. I'm not able to ride consistently quickly or fast, not even if my life depended on it. My riding mindset doesn't allow it, & I can't overide that and not immediately have serious control & judgment problems.

Hi everyone,

My names Patrick Doohan, i Live in New Zealand and have jumped over onto your forum from our one Kiwibiker.co.nz

I'm currently beggining racing in what we call 'streetstock' or Formula4/5. I'm riding an Rg150 for Fivestar suzuki and everythigns coming together well, just waiting for the winter series to start. Did my first race in december (National eventfor NZ) at the Taupo international circuit and finished with two 2nd places and a 1st place. So that was a good start for my first time on the bike.

What im really interested in finding out if there is any relation between myself and Mick Doohan. to do that I'm guessing i need to follow both his and my family history's back to Ireland. How well known is Mick with the general public? because i know most of the New Zealand riders are pretty easily approached and everyone knows everyone else (although NZ is a much smaller country!) If anyone knows anything about where i can find a bit more on Mick's History then that'd be awesome :)
(it says i can't post Links, so no pics of my bike yet sorry)

I haven't visited the LS1 site for ages, its great to see though there is a part for bikers now !! Great Stuff.

Are you going to have a part for organized rides? I did one Sunday just past down Great Ocean rd with 7 other bikes. 480km round trip. Nothing beats group rides. I have also done the Black Spur/Reefton Spur grp ride. Anzac weekend a group of us are headed up to NSW and riding around the top of Vic.

Hi Smitty !!! :smilesandbanana:

mate - looks like a great forum, and I am hoping that I can get all the info I need about the LS1 here......

A 5.7 into the buggy ??? muahahahaa its just a *tad* too large...

I have just picked up a Series III XJ6 Sovereign in Sincity for <$1k. Its got no motor or box, otherwise its the complete package, and looks pretty good.

It will make an ideal tow vehicle for the historic bikes, especially given that in only 2 and a 1/2 years, I will be able to put Vintage rego on it.....gotta be happy with that.

One guy on the forum here, posted a link to his PB album on Monday night, less than 4 hours after I posted a question on Just Commodores, about doing this very conversion.....I tell ya, its 6 degrees of seperation !!!!

cheers mate

Hi all,
I'm mainly a bike nut. Seriously demented may be... Got a 1992 CBR600 still poking out the best part of 100 BHP.

So when we went car shopping I wanted something that I didn't have to change my habits in too much, if you know what I mean.

So my good other half showed me a Black Clubbie with Leather 255 kw and a 6 speed.
After a short drive, I loved it!!!!

Can here to look for Tech info on the Clubbie, but will talk bikes all day too....

Cool, I really hope this takes off. Should be interesting...

 Over 4 years and only 25 posts... dunno if there's to many bikers here amongst the tinlidderz.
Just thought this was a good place to chime in though with my first post.
Never really had a nice car because I've always had plenty of nice bikes instead, but times have changed.

I'm Ducatista, riding a Hyper at the moment, and I've just bought a bone stock VY Berlina LS1.
When my post count gets to 10, I'll post some pics...

Wellity wellity...didn't realise there was an NR connection until just now! Well done Smitty :)

Since the biker talk seems to be fairly slow going I'll up the ante :D

The Northwest 200 (Irish Road racing) makes the fella's that race IOMTT look like pussies....

5-6 riders abreast racing for the win on 2 laned streets LOL.....only in the Northwest 200.

they have just released a 765 (765 versions of it) in the superbike model, but they are also using the same donk in the streetfighter series bikes.

But yes, the engine is an amazing little beast - sounds so good under load, and is silky smooth compared to the old 600cc japanese 4 pot

Just checking with ACT Gov that recreational motorcycling is classified as "exercise" under the COVID restrictions like it is in other states.

Over a week since my last ride as I'm working from home.

MickIn vic it is classified as non essential. I ride dirtbikes and am desperate to go for a ride. But i could be fined significantly for it.

I know these measures are in place for a reason, but feel some premiers are over stepping a bit and some of the measures are only there to make it look like they are taking a tough stance, rather than actually helping the situation.

don't do it now... but if you can get to Italy, take a tour thru the Ducati factory
it is in a suburb of Bologna

I did when there in 2016 (and as well as a visit to Lamborghini and Ferrari)
it was well worth it.
