XR8 Bonnet Scoop On My CV8

Im thinking of putting on an Xr8 bonnet scoop on my monaro, with the side parts of it black..whats your opinions? ive been told by some itll look great and others it a bit w*nk.

Good question. Depending on whom you ask, many think the VZ Monaro bonnet looks a bit wank as well. Personally, I prefer the smoother look without anything, but the Monaro body shape suits that look.

Not sure if you're thinking the same, but dynomotive has an xr8 bulge on their ute for cosmetic purposes.

Its a Holden Monaro not a FORD XR8 Sedan. If you like the bonnet so much go and buy Ford then.

ive seen XB GT bonnet vents fitted to many other vehicles too so its not too crazy

not so sure it would quite fit the lines of the monaro, but what the hell its your car. be sure to tell those people who start quoting verses from the holden bible to go get stuffed :teach:

One word....sacrilege! I can understand the need for a Ford 9" diff in a Holden - but an XR8 bonnet hump is painfull for me to comtemplate. Mate, it's your car and your choice so all the best to ya. I've seen an AU XR6 over here with a BA hump on it and imho it made a bad looking car look worse. Go the bonnet scoops by all means - leave the hump for the Fords.

Plenty of the XR8 bonnet humps running around on commodores, a few of these even have Cooper S scoops.

Its an ideal solution to making room under the bonnet for 8 TB's.

The only place for a holden bulge is in your pants. Not really a nostril fan either, only on the CV8.

If I were to modify my bonnet I would get a custom low profile scoop, not over the top, just subtle and sexy.:cool:

I don't know why people carry on as if Ford invented the bonnet bulge, they don't have a patent on it do they? I'm sure the XR8 wasn't the first car in history to have a bonnet bulge either.

I dont think most people here can visualise it. I've seen it once before on a Monaro, looked wicked and on the sides it had MONARO engraved on it. It didnt have the air intake attached to it like on those pics...this looked really beefy:drool: :drool:

The Twin scoop bonnet is becoming more common. Me and the mrs

Tron, don't know a great deal about the fords, but unless it has
a glued in firewall like it's arch rival commodore, it may not have
as much need for a strut brace.

this bulge looks great on certain colour holdens, anyone who has seen darrens R8 will agree. if things are done tastefully, it can look great. more often than not though, people go gawdy.

my mate has an XR8 bonnet on his VY SS UTE, (SHY VY) 95% of people who see it say it looks great, but its got a custom body kit on it too that helps.

Custom bodyworks have fibreglass bonnets which really suit the holdens. Go to their website and have a look at Special Projects and click on the green clubsport. Has a similar look to the BA one but has a nostril. IMO they look awsome.

ive got it anyway ill cut it out and sit it on my bonnet see what it looks like and how hard its going to be to tack on ,

im also going to cut around the bonnet structure and vent the top end of the buldge to let some hot air out , make it useful
