Nice but I'm glad they stayed with the XU1 :) Now I have to find one worth rebuilding :o

...nice to see someone throw the GTR-X up here

brings back memories as I was one of many at GMH who stopped the last example being put thru the crusher. The last fibreglass body and separate chassis had been sitting around the back of ExpEng at 'the Bend for quite a few years and in the mid 80s someone decided they wanted the space:mad:

the last example has been rebuilt and today is exhibited around the country
...and for the life of me I can't work out why they never made it
(I saw the numbers and thought they added up )

cheers

Yes, another "could have been" memory for us old timers. I actually use the cover photo from the brochure as my avatar.

i started my apprenticeship fitter & turner GMH in jan 82 at MATEC (management & training education centre) a few nice cars around like the HURRICANE(in very POOR condition) a WB PREMIER, No 1 holden(48-215, was ment to be first of the line) the 1 millionth holden(EJ) and some other SPECIAL CARS and THE GTR-X.
the SILVER GTR-X was for an 18 yo HOLDEN FAN, something VERY special. i remember the day a apprentice MECHANIC SMASHED IT INTO AN INTERNAL WALL in the building:bawl: . came back a few days later all fixed....:bravo:

memory's
Garry

just looking at the photo's makes me feel like 18 again
didn't see the white one only a silver one with VB SL/E rims
sounded like a XU-1 but BETTER

The AC Cobra has been done to death , I wonder how hard it would be for one of the kit car makers to offer this as a product ?
The origonal car was fiberglass and interior looks simple . Not a simple task i know but an interesting thought .
