Looks like a replica, quite a good effort. If I was in the position I would build an exact replica of the HRT 427. My favourite car ever! Either that or a 993 Porsche Turbo. Hang it I want both :nyuk:

I agree. Only two HRT427 were made. One is test mule which started life as std engineering GTO coupe that was built into the 427 but its very ruff and was offered to one of HSV most valued clients however the car was not brought as it has near none of the Show car's "427 parts" apart from a 7 litre motor without the Harrop manifold.

The show car is still in presitine condition and looks amazing however i believe the Harrop manifold has also been removed

I agree this is most likely a replica. VXSS, did you get any detail on the car? And did anyone think this could be a development mule for the final HSV Coupe.

THe colour is supposed to be "shazzam Red" a unique colour - anyone who knows their stuff state what colour this Monaro is?? Looks like Red Hot.....

Well If I Was A 427 Mockup It Was A Fukn Good Job, Why Would Someone Go Into Such Detail......?

The Car Only Has 2 Racing Seats, Wasnt Registered & Yes Aparently There Was Only Two Of These God Created....

Just The Sound Of This Car Was Incrediable.......So Loud & Lumpy !

Check Out The Little Alilminium Wing On The Rear.....That Doesnt Look LIke It Could Be Purchased Anywhere !

What about those Monaros they raced at Bathurst in the GTP race once? I think the engines were done by Gary Rogers motorsport though so I'm guessing they weren't "factory HSV" .... maybe this car was another one like those ones.

actully im aware of two firms that have made items that actully look and are finished to a OEM quailty which are based on the HRT 427 items

The front bar splitter costs around $350 or so from memory and the boot lip is going to cost around the same money however this may depend on what finish you wish for.

That number was on the HSV one when Motor mag tested it, along with a few other HSV & Holden Concept cars in a previous issue. Someone had already taken HRT-427, so they had to use THE-427. If I recall, will go through the magazine collection in the morning...

After HSV left everyone high and dry, with $200k left to play with, you've gotta think that at least one person would've spent some of that on buying a Monaro and making it as 427-like as possible.

I still say fake - for plenty of reasons mentioned in this thread, and because the ones that do exist wouldn't be used as daily drivers by HSV staff - no way.

Cheers,
- Febs.

Absolutely!

Reasons I say its fake:

- His new wheels dont have the HRT embossing on one spoke
- It wouldnt be driven ANYWHERE and parked in amongst general populace. Any workshop doing anything with it would have special provision to have it stored off-street
- The abandoned programmes cars werent made as they would have required extensive re-development for road use. I note that it has victorian registraton. The HRT427 has 8 throttle bodies ... how do these go for engineering and road registration?
- Bonnet clips ... the show car didnt have them ... The race version had 3 external latches, different grill/front dam, and no bonnet emblem
http://www.webwombat.com/motoring/news_reports/images/8octhol8.JPG

But anyway - nice mock up - its a talking point

Y2kGoofball
09-04-2006, 06:38 PM
ah well its always good to dream

I'd dare say fake, only because when you get into it Ive learnt how easy it is to create a mock up. If I had the $$ I could easily retro fit my 6 cylinder VX with a genuine looking V8 Supercar bodykit, V8 Supercar OZ Racing rims, even a genuine V8 Supercar carbon fibre dash. Strip out the interior, throw in a Recaro seat, sports steering wheel, lower a tad and throw in some bars and walla, V6 Supercar! Just takes money and wait until the parts are in excess and no longer required on the track :burnout:

Chris, it's all over the forums! :) LS7 HSV Coupé to give the HSV Coupé a fitting send off.

One of our members even has a deposit on one, but they're not 100% confirmed yet, and all the dealerships I've spoken to say it's 50/50 atm (or at least was a few weeks ago).

Fair comment Febs, BUT i believe it's going to happen-always have. Dealers have been told not to return deposits, & John Crennan said that whilst they were going to "tickle" (don't quite know what that means-but hopefully not more sticker specials) the GTO a couple of times before they finish, he also said, it was, AND HERE I QUOTE, "too early to say what HSV were going to do for the final run". Like everyone else, I don't know in what form the final Coupe will be, except that it will be very special- especially if the $130k+ price tag is correct. If it doesn't eventuate, I'll be the first to admit I've got egg on my face.
Cheers, Pickles.

This 427 looks the same as the one in the August 2004 MOTOR mag, same number plates and looks identical, so it maynot be a mockup it maybe the 2nd one they made for the press and for some reason its out and about!!! and the wheels in the Motor mag look exactly the same as the ones in the pic and the HSV brakes. Have a look at the one they test drove.

In issue 89 of Street Commodores page 57 it shows THE 427 "the press car 427 that BLOWN got to drive" it doesnt have the eight trumpet manifold, but it has the cage & the 5 point harness.

It has press button start & the motec cluster also

So people it's the real deal in the pics :deal:

Just had a flick through and yep - it's the same right down to the number plates! I didn't realise the journo car was so different to the show car. That explains the different brakes, filler etc..

So either:
1) It's real, and HSV have it out and about.
2) It's a good fake, and the owner bought the plates from HSV.
3) Maybe someone did end up buying it (re: what nickh said).
4) VXSS works at HSV, and his "work carpark" is actually the HSV carpark.

Either way - very interesting. :D

As I've said on many occasions, I believe the "super coupe" will happen. However, it will be a different beast from the original concept, & much cheaper, at $130k it would be $85k cheaper. So whilst the coupe pictured here is interesting, I find it hard to believe that it is a genuine HSV item, as HSV, the most secretive of companys, would be unlikely to leave a "development mule/prototype" in a publicly photographable location, on 2 separate occasions. Nevertheless, it would be interesting to know what it is!
Cheers, Pickles.

HSV make their own decisions, but they obviously run them by Holden, which does not own HSV.
