I did a diff at 15,000km (whining), had an engine rebuild at 60,000km (gudgeon knock), ABS unit at 80,000km and had a wire to the fuel pump intermittently shorting out under the rear seat at 90,000km.

Now at 135,000km.
No problems with clutch or gearbox, still original.

Fuel economy can be bad but a decent tune will fix that, but then you have more power and the want to use it and that can lead to more speeding tickets which are bad, but then you go out to the legal dragstrip and get a good 1/4 mile time which is good, but then you decide you want to go faster, so you spend more money on diff gears and otrcai's etc which is bad but then you go out to the dragstrip and get a better time which is good ..........

I wouldnt suggest that just because this stuff is listed here its necessarily common....

Only things I'd be watching out for is an oil consumer, not becauses its that common but because out of warranty now it could cost you dearly...and accept the flap below the radio WILL break. I've had no other issues with my car with nearly 110000kms on it now....

Besides checking dip stick for low oil how else can you tell if a car is a oil burner? Which the owner could easily just top it up.

eg you only look at the car for maybe 1 hour at max so you cant do oil consumption tests?

HOw do you avoid buying a oil burner?

Cheers

the diffs often need the bearings replaced and suffer from diff chatter (cluncking under load) which requires fluid change and aditive. the t700 gearbox is a shocker and very prone to losing 3/4 gears. power steering pump and rack could be better and electrical gremlins show up from time to time. o2 sensors pack it in a lot. just my 2 cents.
