Anyone out there,
I have removed my Eurovox radio unit from the dash (using the trusty coat hangers) and i am wondering if the 4 digit PIN code is on the top or back of the unit? I can see the serial number, does the code come out of that number somewhere?:diddy:
PLZ help.

Hmmm Pin number printed on the radio
No pin number on the radio anywhere ( unless someone wrote it on there )
You will have to give you local Holden dealer a call with your VIN to get it.

Nope, You will have to contact a Holden dealers service dept with, VIN and or Rego number.
Some charge for this service and some will just give you the number.
Don't tell them you took the radio out just say you had to replace the battery, I think thats what a Friend did in his and they just gave him the code.
Cheers Robski
Doh...! you must type faster than me Mr Knee...

If you want to chance it
PM Spoocs he is a very brave man. He said on the forum that he can help. Looks like he works for Tony Ireland Holden.
So if you got a radio from a guy at the pub for $50 THIS IS THE MAN TO PM.

Hang on giving the info out over the phone defeats the purpose of a PIN. They should ask to see your rego papers before handing over a security code.
If you have the manuals with the car you might find it recorded in there somewhere buy the original owner.
I find it amazing that they even have a PIN code on the factory head units in the first place. They're hardly what you would call desirable..
Kind of like when you see an old VL with a club lock on the steering wheel...... Are they trying to stop you from stealing the car, or are they worried you're going to steal the club lock.... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

More desirable than an empty hole in your dash!
80% of people would be quite happy with the stock, and many are paying over $250 for CD ones on ebay.....:deal:

I always ask to see the radio fitted into the car, complete current rego papers and I must be speaking to the owner of the car with 3 valid pieces of identification before I'll consider giving it "over the counter" Tough but if you cant provide it I wont provide the PIN. Whats to say after you knocked it off the car you didnt write down the VIN ... its stamped in the window, under the seat and on the rego label?

currently don't know the pin to get my stereo working either... but found the pin "1111" turns it on for about 3 minutes.
annoying but at least u get some tunes, u can keep repeating the pin and won't lock the stereo. it's the standard headunit in a vx should be the same as the VT yea?

Here's my twist.
VT Berlina had decided not to eject a CD. Can skip tracks, turn it off, but not change to radio, pause or eject. I think this has happened once before, so I did the same thing - took the fuse out, to then reenter the pin (which I have) to "wake it up" from it's confusion.
Problem
When using the preset buttons to enter the code, only 2 of them ( 4 and 3 as it turns out) work. I have 2 other digits to enter, and can't get them registered as I type in the PIN. Result - no go.
Any ideas? (apart from a new double din head unit with aux in on the front for mp3 player?)

Is this the car you are selling? Dude, really, go and invest in a new stereo. Music in 3 minute intervals.......how annoying would that be......

It states in the manual that a "pin can be found printed on the card , do not keep this card in the car". So if you bought the car as a secondhand, the chance you will find that card is minimal, unless the previous owner actually remembered to put it back. I didnt have one, but I service my car where I bought it so they gave me a pin for no charge

Yes, i was suprised one day when i rang a holden dealer in Adelaide and told the lass on the phone that i needed the code for the stereo in the vx ss funny part was, at the time it was still in my brothers name and he owned it and got it serviced regularly at this dealer.
I said i was the brother and battery went flat and my bro was gunna kick my butt. They took rego details and just gave it out over the phone.
Glad i wasnt there when my brother got down there when he found out so its not hard, i just used details off the rego papers and rego sticker.
Dealers need to be careful.
But most workshops with a scan tool of some description can get it just by plugging into the socket under the steering wheel.

Can't even enter 1111, which is supposed to wake it up briefly, to get the CD out of it.
Any suggestions?

i bought my car from dealership, replaced the battery (coz they f__ked it), and now i cant use the radio. terribly annoying. surely there is some universal key like mobile phones have? OR who can i call to do it over the phone, i dont want to pay for it, or muck around finding paperwork and finding a dealership with a service department that is open when im not at work (unlikely even one exists). i would just go buy another one if i have to pay for it or muck around...

Mate, I am in the car busness, if you tell the salesman you bought it from that he "SHOULD" give you the code for a car he has sold you he should get it for you. I know plenty of people in plenty of dealerships that have access to these details on the manufacturers data base, it is not hard. The salesman should give you any security or information/codes to any vehicle he has sold to you. It is no different to supplying you an ignition key.
Give him a call. Good luck,
Ed

MMMM Seems the thread miners are out in force this evening....
Buy a new one off ebay.... or $22 buck and why would you have a generic pin...defeats the purpose... Even though these units are shit.
Cheers
