The story behind the Gold VX BLO 402 ...
After a few late night drinks we decided it was time to have some fun and the idea was hatched to slot a stock engine into the old girl (As the supercharged motor is being developed further for the Summernats) and using most of the existing accessories (Intake, exhaust etc) of the supercharged combo, go and have some good old drag racing fun.. the BOSS (Bolt on stripper class) seemed be a good formula with the prospect of mid 11 second times on a budget. We had been hoping to do some testing before the event but the weather had kept us away from Calder so the new combination was to debut at Heathcote and what a debut with a stunning 11.59 @ 118mph with a fastest mph of 121.9 this combo was just a hoot to drive using a six speed with a "Ripshift" I found myself gigling like a little school boy after the first run..6000rpm side step the clutch and hang on..
In the DYO competition we dialed in at 11.60 and I got through the first round only to fall asleep at the lights against Dejay (he cut a .43 light from memory) On that run I went on to brake out anyway with a 11.59 @ 118mph trying to catch him..Oh well thats racing...

I owe a big thank you to Rob, Ian and the HPF team. :love2: They have been working on my car since the day i got it. Before this car they were also working on my original XR6T.
HPF have been at the forefront of development of the XR6T. The level of pleasure and enjoyment that they have given me through my car is huge. :woohoo: I don't have a huge budget and everytime we come to the next hurdle in going quicker Rob finds a great solution.
I've been trying to convert Rob to the "Blue Oval" for over 2 years, so far without luck.

Great work Guys that GOLD unit was strong all weekend.

I must agree with the tons of fun description of these cars (BOSS) i think they are right on the money with weight, power, and the reliability of the other components not being stressed by to much HP. :driving:

Hey i had to be right on the ball as i heard you guys were out to get me ( and very well nearlly did :hide: ) , i was able to cut .4x lights all evening which helps no end in DYO racing :D

Congrats once again to all of your cars and drivers.

DJ its all a bit of fun my car doesnt get enough use, and BOSS seems to be the right class for it and it was more exiciting driving the 6 speed than my auto 427.

Congrats on the win, lets have another go next time.

Summed up the team at HP-F perfectly Geea,

I would also like to thank Rob and all the HP-F team for all their help & support over the last 2 years, also for building me a bullet proof ute that I can drive around and do deliveries in all week then take to the strip on weekends and have a ball in without ever breaking a single thing. "touch wood" I am in the same boat as Geea and dont have a huge budget to work with, yet Rob is always ready to help with the next little thing that might help me go that little bit quicker, he's one of the true nice blokes of the industry... no bullshit, no sales pressure, no crap, no forum chest beating, just a passion for the sport and his customers.

Cheers

I was speaking to Tim (the owner) at Calder tonight. He was pretty happy he was hoping for a 9.8 but now he has a 9.6 he says he wants a 9.5.:yup:
The car sounded and looked great he says he was hitting the limiter just before the end so there's probably a little left in it.

CONGRATULATIONS GUYS!!!!!!! :bday:

That is HUGE MPH. 121?!?

What intake and exhaust was that with?
Can you list the mods that this thing had?
I presume it was stripped but how low was the weight?
Did it run an LS6 manifold and TB?
Did you dyno it first?

Id just like to see some details of how it raced because that is a fantastic effort :bravo:

Yes Rob and the boys at HPF do some awesome work and are a very professional bunch. Here I thought with the sale of my jap car I would leave the modding scene behind me, but I have now decided to get myself a VY SS Ute so I guess Rob will become my best friend. Well done guys.
Starts to dump money into another money pit

Congrats fellas. Amongst all those 10sec cars, the 11-12 second cars look slow.

Didn't realise there was another single Turbo Coupé4 getting around though! I thought Nick was going to be the pioneer in that department!
