Just blew another headlight globe this morning (Philips I think?) I replaced both at the same time, so I expect the other will blow soon. These were only about 4mths old, and they replaced a set of Chinese made ones (I was desperate) that lasted about 2mths.
How long should these damn things last!! Do they have a number of running hours for them?? The last Philips set were quite expensive if I recall .. but of course I've lost the receipt.

I was having similar problems with my rear right brake light blowing on my ute. I had to change the farking thing 4 times in 4 months as it kept on blowing but i never had a problem with the left one.
what should be a 5 sec job turns out to be a half a day job removing my tool boxes, removing ladderracks, removing plastic cargo liner, remove body pannell rrraagghhhhh
Im not sure what type of globes i was replacing them with but they were good brand ones from repco. i told holden about it on the 40 thou service as it was blown again at the time and they replaced the globe and globe socket and wiring harness and i never had the problem again (1 year later)
Maybe check your socket and make sure its clean as it could be shorting out also check for any loose wires.

Are you getting oil on them from your fingers? if you touch them you will kill them much faster.

I dont think it kills them moreso it affects the light output due to smudges, but I wipe them down with methanol prior to installation just in case.
Changed mine at 115K despite the headlights still going fine, the parker light on the drivers side decided to give up though.

Headlight globes always say not to touch the glass with your fingers as it will cause premature failiure - usually is on the instructions. Other globes don't matter so much.
It's either because of the type of glass or just the (100W on hi-beam) heating of the oily fingerprints - can't remember which. Had my VT for over 4 years now - only needed to replace 1 blown headlight globe so far. Replaced the other at the same time - about 3 years ago I think. I don't use hi-beam much though.
Try a good brand for a few extra bucks - never had troubles with Narva.
