That would be the VZ with the 6 litre they're testing.

It's the VZ, not VE. I don't take much notice of what those guys say...

yeah, newspaper journos don't have a very good reputation as their reviews are lightweight compared with the car mags.
gotta love the sound of the stock exhaust though.

Sounds pretty sedate actually compared to what you can get with an after market system.

true, but I would rate it as Holden's best effort in a stock exhaust system....these days the almighty dollar is driving their decisions, and hence there will never be a choice of different exhaust systems to suit the nature of the car (i.e. loud for SS, and quieter for Calais)

I do agree with one point he made though. How the bl**dy heck have we as consumers allowed GMH to get away with putting the clunky 4l60/65 into the cars for so long.
Ford has had the 6 speed for nearly a year and even before that had a better, smoother auto tranny.
For the price you pay for a luxury car such as the Calais, or any car in the range really, you would expect better.......hopefully in VE perhaps???
Cheers,
Macca

most definitely a 6 speed auto will be in the VE..........its all about timing, dollars, return on investment.....there will not be a large volume of VZs (with the L76) sold to justify a new tranny.....Holden's hand (introducing the L76) was forced by the new emissions introduced on 1 January 2006.
it is probably arguable whether the Ford 4 speed auto was better than the Holden 4 speed auto.
