After a little while of my std clutch giving me the shits with some slipping, decided to upgrade to a Textralia clutch
http://home.wilddsl.net.au/jt/tex3.JPG
A big thank you goes out to Chev and the boys for all their help today.
My impressions of the new clutch is it is slightly heavier than stock and only has a little bit of shudder, mainly when taking off slowly in traffic.
So a big thumbs up from me I am extremely happy with the overall feel.
Will report back in a few weeks when I have driven it more

Great job JT and Chev.

I'll be looking into one of these after the lumpy stick goes in.

Cheers,

We liked this clutch as it has a full surface face on the flywheel side and a button face on the pressure plate side. Pedal feel was "slighty" heavier than stock, but still a fair bit lighter than my extreme clutch feel. With a Harrop shifter mechanism fitted, it felt a real good package. Thanks to Pete from tex. PS= Not so much Locktite on those bolts JT

might be a idea to give pete a call mate, they might of just rattled it up and therefore would be a install issue.... might pay to get someone "who knows what they are doing" do remove it and refit it "properly"

there are many cars with this clutch making more power than mine without problem, how much extra power are we talking about?

About 320-340rwkw's(hopefully). The one I have now is just about fryed and the blower is about to go back on bigger and better than last time. So I am tossing up between an exedy or a tex.

It sounds like a tex may be the go.
Which one are you guys running? Steel or alloy fly or that new exo one?

My tex is coping very well (see vids below) with the 427's torque. Didn't like my old Exceedy at all, shuddered a lot.

What diff gears are you guys running with textralia clutches? And would running the stock diff gears have an effect on the amount of shudder you would get with general driving around town?

I have had a textralia clutch recently fitted to my car and it shudders pretty bad imo, especially when it gets a bit of heat into it. Seems to be a lot less shudder in reverse since i don't have to slip it as much to get going. I'm thinking a set of 3.91 or 4.11's would help things a lot.

Cheers

To supply and fit the Tex clutch, fit new slave/thrust assembly, modify slave bleeder, fit new spigot bush and flush entire clutch hydraulic system will cost $1990 inc gst. For an extra $200 inc gst, we will fit a Harrop Short shifter mechanism for no extra cost.

tex's are being run in i believe gen-t1000's which are putting out 500rwkw's, so im sure you wont have a problem. speak to the sponsor on this very forum about it rather than speculating among members.

JT. I rang the suppliers of the medium strength loctite (Wurth) and they don't have enough in stock for you to do the job.:p The local Bursons store couldn't help out either.

Hi I got tex Clutch SB version(out of my car). I was wondering how much I should be looking for (on average) getting it installed? I got quoted $550-$600.
to me that sounds like way too much? Or am I wrong?>

That does sound a bit much. I think the going rate is around $200-$300. I think it's about 3-4 hours labour.

Hi I got them down to $400 including fitting the Ripshifter :)
I must say both of those things (Tex clutch and Ripshifter) have changed the car dramatically, Im most impressed with both of them.
Though I think the clutch might make parking in the shopping centre or heavy traffic a nightmare, I hope it gets better :)
When I 1st drove it off, I thought crap whats going on, but then I turned a few corners and got the hang of it.
I can only feel sorry for my rear tyres now

Doesnt feel any different foot wise (heaviness), just wants to be either in or out, and it makes alot of noises if u accidently ride it lol
Not so bad I guess, Im just used to clutches that slip :P

That doesn't sound right, you can slip these things no prob if you want to - shouldn't make any noise when you do.

Hmm could it be because its brand new?? It grips like nothing else, doesnt seem to slip at all, just when u let it out a little it groans and the car shudders a bit.

Mine sometimes does that, but it's always because I haven't given it enough revs off the line or released the clutch too early.

Give it more revs/ride it a little and the noise will dissapear.

Yes I think thats it, I just got a 2 bar tune ( a few weeks ago) but only had driven twice, and I seem to give it a bit of throttle to start compared to the 1 bar. dont think Im used to it yet
