Just had the Zed serviced yesterday and looked around and saw #3 GTO LE in red/white stripes 6 speed with red interior for sale, it's one of 11 manuals out of 25 red out of 100 LE's.
So I signed up subject to finance today, trading the zed in of course!
Will this low build # in this case be THAT significant in years to come?
Your thoughts on this car???
cheers

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW GTO LE- you've got the right colour too, particularly with the red interior, BUT the main factor is you've got the LS2 engine. I don't think the build no will make any difference to collectability, but hey, who cares, you've bought one of the very last coupes to be built, AND IT WILL BE A CAR TO BE TREASURED.
We've only had our "ordinary" GTO for two weeks, & went out this afternoon to bed in the brakes (thanks Acer). We are thrilled with it-I tell you, YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE THIS CAR.
My information is that, unlike some other HSV models, these are going quite quickly.
Did you drive it first?--make sure you keep us up to date with delivery, first drive etc--at least you didn't have to wait 6 months like we did!
Cheers, Pickles.

Yeah, I agree with Pickles here. It is a low-build car and all, but buy it to enjoy. That will be the best return.

Cheers,

U must be privvy to some special info, because the only info any one else has is that the Monaro wont continue. No statement has been made that there won't be a VE coupe or that it wont be better.

Stop kidding urself its an investment and just enjoy.

I think the build no would help- if I was looking to buy a brock or HSV and it was down between tow identical cars I'd take the one with a build no. closer to #001

Wow CV8ZED! How long have you had your Z for? ;-)

Its like an addiction this MONARO/COUPE isnt it? :burnout:

On a serious note tho - Congrats....its a great looking car! And i think it will be one of the cars thats likely to hold its value more than others - and become collectable in years to come due to the limited number!

As ive said before - the first and the last of anything is always the most special! And especially in a limited release like this one....collectability is pretty much a given!

In saying that, there's a dealership here in Adelaide that has #1 of the Red/White ones...:nos:

PS - Does anyone know how the numbering of these LEs works?

Ive seen #1 on a red/white one and ive also seen #1 on the black/gold one in the press shots on the HSV site! And then ive seen #81 in the Wheels test report! Im all confused!

I had the pleasure of taking one for a drive from Zupps. The salesman gave me a nice long drive and I've gotta say it was beautiful! It was one of the yellow ones with the black stipes. Can't remember the number but I think it was in the 80's.

Monaro based models might prove to be in a totally different ballpark to sedans, as there will never be too many of them around. Only time will tell!
As an indication, with Monaro anyway, we had a couple of CV8's on the used lot that wouldn't sell in 3 months, but as soon as the end of Monaro production was announced, both sold in less than a week.

I think you are correct maloo. Maybe in 20 years if you still have the GTO with minimal klms on the clock, you may get your money, and some back! ....... Buy the GTO and drive it, forget about the investment potential.

Cheers.

Where did I say this car was an "INVESTMENT"- Please explain!
However, whilst I didn't mention a VE Coupe in this post, I'm quite happy to confirm MY OPINION that there WILL NOT be a VE COUPE, nor any other large 2 door coupe made in Aus again.
Cheers, Pickles.

From someone who had ordered a Black GTO LE, along with my brother, I wouldn't expect it to be any different from any other HSV with regards to future value. There was plenty of marketing hype but in the end, I think it was just an attempt by Holden to 'beef up' the last of the Coupes. We were told that all 100 were sold but in reality, there are plenty around as is evidenced from people seeing them in yards for sale. Great car but my brother and I are both happy that we cancelled once we felt that it wasn't all it was hyped up to be. At the end of the day though, if it what you are after, drive it and enjoy it !!

I did manage to pick up a VY Series II Maloo R8 and it is a beast !!

Thanks mate, nah just saw it sitting there, 20kms on the clock...waiting for me. Have driven a VZ Clubsport R8 DTS, so was well aware of the extra grunt and stopping power.
Hopefully get it next Monday.

Had the Zed sice Oct 31, just clocked 4100kms and done the 10,000k service when I spotted old #3. Had the full paint/ leather treatment on it and it is mint so it will make someone a great "new" car.
Oh well i was hoping that with #3 on it, it may have been #1 black as in the photo's, #2 devil, and mine the first of the red ones.
I too would like to know the colour/# sequencing.
I was told there is only 5 left, can anyone confirm?
cheers

Don't worry mate it will get driven, and as far as an investment goes, the joy I will get from having/driving it far outways any belief in getting coin back later for it.

In that case, BLKCV8, I reckon it's about time you got your order in for a GTO.
While you're at it, tell Justin to order one also, then with you, the GURU, justin, Monky, & me,--well, we could go for our own GTO cruise!!!

I think you will find that the c/o price will vary from dealer to dealer. In melb, I saw one @ $91k, & another @ $88k, both driveaway. I would have thought you would be able to do a little better than that, but these LEs, being a Coupe, seem to be going fairly quickly, so there's not so much "giveaway" as 4 door HSVs. However,- I'll have a guess--would $38k c/o be close to the mark on a low k cv8Z zacz?! I"M ONLY GUESSING, BASED ON DEALER's USUAL POOR TRADE IN VALUE, but I really have no idea!!
Cheers, Pickles.

My dealer reckoned i'd get 55k private, so i said you give me that and i'll buy it, but being a company (mine) car we worked it out mmm....differently. So yeah 37k c/o.
#1 - you reckon they will sell it? and at what price??

Yeah mate, when there's suposedly only 5 left, they wont budge, however I did get HSV floor mats, a driver training day with 14 other HSV purchasers on a skid pan..oh and a signed HSV jacket.
Spot on with your c/over figure.

Zacz-keep us posted. Super snake--Do it, but you'd better be quick, & make sure "our' old ride finds a good home.
I'm certainly not saying that any of us are going to make money on our GTOs, but what i am saying is that an LS2 powered coupe is always going to be a good bit of gear.
I don't know how many are left (of the LEs), but a friend of mine had difficulty in sourcing a black manual, & there were twice as many of them than the other colours.
Of course you can still buy an "ordinary" GTO, with limited colour/trim choices, & John Crennan said that HSV were going to "tickle" GTO a couple of times, with no price increase, before they finished- what he meant by that, I have no idea!
Cheers, Pickles.
