I was up for tyres on the sv300 as the 2 rear were bald and some how i found a gash in one of the front tyres,i priced up some tyres and was hit for a bill for $1300,i thought i may try 20's as i found that they were not priced too badly, after doing some research,i found that you had to get ur guards rolled and coil overs on the front.I wasnt up for that as i didnt want to hack my car up to fit some wheels. So i went wheel shopping and scored a set of wheels and tyres for $2000,i also decided i wanted to stay with 19's ,here are some pics, wat do you guys think ?

Yes ur quite right there as thats wat i loved bout them, the nachined billet look, gives the car alittle tougher look and also they are very identical to the original wheels :D

No worries, I just saw some on one of those eBay wheel places. I assume they are 19x8? Your tyres look pretty wide, are they still just the 245s?

Aren't they a copy of the CV8-R wheels? Not my cuppa T. Love the car though Sonny.

Thats cool everyones entiitled to their opnion :),yes they are a copy as the cv8 ones only came in 18's and i wanted 19's,they are a real good quality wheel.

20's would have fitted if you got 225 wide tyres..... but keeping it legal rear gaurds rolled and maybe just $120 crewman struts and you could get 245s no probs.....
looks nice for pretty much $700 19" rims.

The original VX GTS wheels look 100x better than the CV8-R knock offs.

Not having a dig, just my opinion. VX GTS are probably the best HSV wheel ever made.

I'd put the original GTS wheels back on. With aftermarket wheels that look "similar" to them, your car could be confused by the casual observer for "another tryhard mock HSV". With the original GTS wheels, the car retains it's "Genuine" look.

either way they both make the car look DAM HOT:bravo:

They are a nice wheel, but I reckon the stock SV300 wheels look better than either of the sets you've had on it.
http://us1.webpublications.com.au/static/images/articles/i14/1412_5lo.jpg

As I said in another thread however, wheels are a personal taste, and it is YOU that has to be happy with them, not the other punters out there.

Hi Sonny,

I like the new rims, the narerow slots cut out in each 'spoke' does it for me.

I noticed on one of the older pics that you have the rear sun shade (back window). Did the SV300 come with these or is it retro-fitted off a Monaro? I've wanted one for my VX SS but have never got around to looking into it.

Cheers,
Nathan.

didn't stray far from the original design, very similiar. but look good still.

i prefer a bit of a dish myself, but hard to do these days with wide wheel base, unless you have sloping spokes which weakens the whole setup, they crack.

Quite nice Sonny but I gotta agree with Chops, the original SV300 wheels looked the best IMHO.

Of the 2 sets of wheels that you have now, I'd keep the other ones but it is your car and as said it's your opinion that matters not all of us.

Cheers.

Another vote for the GTS rims. imo best rims for that car they look awesome.

Sorry sonny not a fan at all but each to there own...... I have always thought those wheels would look a lot better if that black groove in the middle of the spoke was gone..... Then they would have that nice flat smooth machined look and not a copy of another wheel......

cheers

looks nice for pretty much $700 19" rims.

Thats the problem ,i didnt like the 225 tyres on 8.5inch rims as the rim was sticking out further than the tyre, which will expose the rim to easy damage and vastly affect the handling.

nah the 'rim saver' (protective bit of rubber that comes out further then the rim and is quite thick to save the rims from gutter bashers) best tyres for that problem would have to be nankangs but they are the wrong rating where as wanli's are correct and are just as good.... i had no problem on my old car with handling only traction in the rear..... it comes down to personal opinion if you like "rubber bands" or feel more comfortable with a bit more meat at the corners.
i dont think any 20" wheel upgrade is a mistake. to me chrome 20"s with rubber band tyres (the 225's/30 or/35) thats bling, 20"s with 245's/35 just look like 19"s and loose the bling factor due to the amount of tyre.

I think I like the look.... but it is bit hard to make a comment until you can see how they look as a whole with the car. Any chance of a full car shot?

I want these on mine....

they are pretty sick rims. im concidering buying a set myself, how ever im put off because they are knockoffs/copies of other hsv rims. the real gts rims cost twice as much and have better street cred then the knock offs. given the choice, id take the gts everytime.
