After Mick twisting my arm and convincing me to take the barge up to the AFF drag meet we ran the car with new race exhaust which set off a lot of Ford car alarms, (not that anyone would want to steal a Ford;) )
We took the baby seat out for a change, and the passenger seat and it ran

11.94 @ 116.34mph with an incredible 1.69 60ft on ET radials.

Mick changed the converter from a 3000 to 3500 which has made an incredible difference. This car is still a 5.7, N/A with a complete engine package from APS Service Centre.
Engine specs

Heads ported and flowed to 620hp
Shaft mounted roller rockers
Valve springs suit 650 valve lift
Titanium retainers collets and spring bases
Forged pistons
Total seal rings
Scat rods
Race series bearings
ARP stud kit throughout
Camshaft 230+ 590+
Underdrive pulley
3500 stall
LS2 manifold
Larger fuel rail
High flow injectors
Di Filippo 4 into 1 1" 7/8
Hi flow cats
X member rear system
4.11 diff gears
RVO auto
Mafless tune

I think this takes the record for the fastest N/A 5.7 LS1 Statesman to 11.94.
I'll get APS to post up time slips.
A big thanks to Mick, Frank and all the boys from APS, not only leading up to Heathcote, but also assisting me on the day. They are certainly breaking a few records.:6bow:

As i said in the other thread, awesome work to all involved. I know the work i did to get to 12.5 cam only, 11's is just awesome in a barge. There is only 1 faster barge to beat now with a 11.78 on NOS. im sure you boys will give that a good nudge too.

Im almost tempted to go back NA to give you a run :D

Jay, any info on the red stato that claims a 11.5 on the same day? Apparently a 410 stroker.

Even more tempted to go back to NA now...

No dude, you are waaaay off........upgrading the engine with stonger internals makes it safer, not faster. Just look at Nathan's car.......

H beam rods soak up power anyway, so its a good effort cookie, and not one you should tarnish with ridiculous statements.

Its all true Stu the car performed brilliantly parked it after running the 11.94 because of being absolutely :woohoo: with the time (we know how hard it is to get these stato's to do the numbers) to sit there and watch a red stato roll up put drag radials on and run around 12.5's out of the box. Returning to the pits he took the exhaust off and I saw a pass of 11.55 approx W.T.F....

I had to go and talk to this guy so off I headed, bailed him up on the hill and said what the hell have you done to that!!!!

Its a higgens 408cu stroker head and cam package which obviously has some serious grunt.

My Turbo'ed 408cu PT stroker has some work cut out for it then. Stock heads and small cam but a GenT should see me in the right ball park.

Jeesus!!!

Thats it - the competition is too hot for me - I give up.:burnout:

Well done fella's - nice times. 11.9 was good but 11.5:eek:

Come on Statie, spring for a larger cam and a set of heads for Lyn and get that thing moving. You already have the rest of the equation. Just make sure Lyn drives though, she is faster than you :stick: hahaha

Bloody hell---there goes any aspirations of being happy to get into the 12's one day. I was amazed my 4000lbs++ WK ran 13.6 after '3:73s, tune and exhaust. I did'nt think I'd see an 11 out of a N/A, Stato' bodied.
Hmmmm, you boys have given me a bit more inspiration I think :woohoo:
(Though I'll see how our new T/B R&D works out next week @ W'bank first )

12.9 is the pace from an unopened barge these days v-comp. 12.5 cam only (we all see to go for baby cams from 212/212@114 to 216/220@114) so i'd love to see a decent 228/230+'s cam or bigger, in a barge. We have a pretty good barge following here in Brisbane and the barge racers in other states are all top guys too. Make sure you come say hi if you see me at the track.

Nah man - the competition is too rich down this neck of the woods nowadays.

Anyone wanna buy a slow 12.5 sec WH11 Statesman? Going cheap! :deal: Serious!!!

If you cant beat em - join em is my motto. Grange, LS2 & FI here I come.

Are you the first naturally aspirated stato to run an 11 ?

YEAH YEAH YEAH

Why do anything to the motor if you dont want to go fast..

The owner of this car has spent EASY 7K on it EASY and not faster yeah because a stock barge runs 11's now huh,

My stato went 12.8 (bolt on) and i was rapt i now have a 11.8 SS so i know how hard it is to get those things down the track.

Its a top effort and good jog AGAIN to aps they keep coming up with the goods

All the time and effort finally payed off and we always said when it runs 11's you will retire the barge, so hows the blower looking.:banghead:

We saw the red Statesman, he was running high 11's, then he pulled the exhaust off, and was running 11.5's. Well done Vince on a top effort.

However, this thread is about Jays barge, and its great to see him achieving 11's with a standard stroke.

Im not sure Mick if to retire the barge now as the competition has become a little hotter

There is still 1 more title out there as Australias fastest barge (what blower did you have in mind)

We cant let Voodoo do it alone, that goes for you to Statie we wont here of any barges retiring from racing

Not much chance of that. The 'Corupt' Caprice went 11.8 at 122 last night with a broken gearbox. Went home in second gear after its first and only run. Lots more to come from this one for sure.

Great to see Trent out there. So much for not modding this car (much) hehe

With Mark and Shaun @ PT as pit crew we are in very good hands. Nothing better than seeing barges from all over Aust out there racing. Awesome work Trent!
