Just my little cry....For all of those who know the M1 where it changes from 100 to 80 just before the tunnel...??? well i should have paid more attention, i knew it changed in the tunnel, i got pinged at 91 in an 80 zone, dropped to 89 in an 80, $131 blister and 1 point.........i'm always so carfull, it's the first point off the licence.....just have to cop it and carry on.
1 Point, thats lucky, in NSW minimum speeding offence is 3 points, so if you speed in double demerits its half your license gone right there and then.

domain or burnley tunnel. The speed limit doesnt change in the tunnel at all.
Did u get pinged by a tunnel camera or the one just before the punt road exit?

should be 120km/h limit with 12km/h tolerance (10%) and $3 fine per km/h over the limit - so a $60 fine for 20km/h over the limit, $120 for 40 over the limit etc

Yep. Makes it difficult for the coppers to justify the ticket as anything other than revenue raising. If someone is continually caught doing something unsafe, IMO the lawmakers have a duty of care to eventually suspend them from driving. But, if you keep paying the fines, you can drive around at up to 9 km/h over the limit forever. Ergo - the lawmakers are failing in their duty of care, or they think that speeding by less than 9 km/h isn't unsafe (which to me says limits tend to be set too low). Either way they're hypocrites. Means tested differential speed limits.
Note - I don't blame the coppers in all of this, although in some cases they perhaps could use a bit of common sense in where and when they enforce the limits. Generally speaking they're doing their jobs. It's the people who set the limits and laws, and the camera operators, who need a rocket.

If it is the camera on the Monash that is just before the Domain Tunnel... yeah that camera has been there for years... that was one of the first fixed cameras to be installed, before all the ones on the Ring Road and stuff....
They are just behind the signs as you hit the top of the hill before decending into the tunnel..
When you're on the freeway or even in the tunnels... look on the road and you will see 2-6 shinny metal stripes across all lanes, sort of like a grid, thats how i know where the fixed cameras are... come up to an over pass and see shiny stripes.. look in my rear view and there will be a camera...

I am new to Melbourne and still have a NSW licence. Does anyone know for instance if I got caught doing 10km's over in Melborne, do I get 1 point deducted or would I get three as per NSW's rules?
It might make me change my mind about swapping my licence if it is the latter.
Cheers,
Andrew

Nowadays it will be deducted as the states have put their heads together on it.
Be mindful that if you reside in Vic for longer than 3 months, ie permanent, and do not change to a Vic licence, then you will be unlicensed.
BTW, the speed limit changes from 100 to 80 at least a mile prior to the camera, so it would be misleading to state that it changes right near it. Oh and yes, unfortunately, I was pinged by this one around 5 years ago also. :nopity:

Macca
