Mate, having an XU6 at 17 is awesome! I didn't get my first car till just before I turned 19. That was a VX S. I would've loved to have a super6 at 17 :D

Good to see some younger guys, such as myself, with high-end cars.
I think its a tribute to the dedication that we have to our cars and to holden, that we spend basically every cent on our pride and joy.
Personally, there is nothing i would rather spend my money on. :yup:
Besides, its easy to save money when you live at home, have no bills, mortgage or expenses.

You do every member here proud, INSINR8R, drive hard.

For Converter and cam if I decide to go with the Cam. (Some form of forced induction)

As for insurance, $2100 a year thru RAC with my mum as primary insurance holder and me as nominated driver.

Thanks mate. I always dreamed I would own a clubsport, and I made it come true at the end of January. Your driving a nice car yourself, and to quote you, "drive hard" :)

wtf ??? AN INTERCOOLER on an N/A:lol: thats the Funnest thing ive revery heard. are you sure its not a Trans Cooler

8throttlebodies
24-05-2006, 02:42 PM
You dont need an intercooler on a naturally aspirated car. An intercooler is used to cool down the air entering the engine AFTER it gets compressed(heated up). Dont confuse this with a Cold Air Intake (CAI).

Doesn't mean you can't have one, but you would be just wasting money.

Simjply, if your not getting a S/C or turbo, then dont get the Intercooler.

INSINR8R
23-07-2006, 06:19 PM
never got it dynoed before mods, but I'd say it would have put out what other stock r8's put out. But sometime this week I'll take it for a run and post it up.

And thanks DR, I tried to convince my stepdad to do that, but he only wanted 18's, new exhaust and lowering job

Hey INSINR8, nice Clubbie!! Love the VX HSV's!!

Where did you get those headlights?? Looking at maybe replacing the ones on my ride. Choice mods you have, Mitch at WA Performance is the man for the LS1. I'm teeing up a meeting with him to chat about a build for my GTS. Looking at turbo or a P/D blower.

Cheers

vyssbeast

as far as i know the new confiscation dont have anything to do with that
but previously its just been a fine, theres a member on here that copped 6 fines (total 660) but his attracts heaps of attention
if its stockish you should be able to drive up right by the cops and they wont have a clue

Indeed mate. Mitch and Deb are excellent at what they do. Couldn't be happier, but planning for a cam around xmas time. As for the headlights, I know linear concept in wangara has them for like $400. But if you look on ebay they might be cheaper.

WA doesn't have P plate restrictions at the moment. The gov. is looking to bring them in, but its a load of horseshit anyway. Cheers for the comment though :D

F*CK. there the same rims i was looking at in the balcatta bob jane...i know the owner and i seriously thinking about them...well done they look great. :bravo: :yup:

I am looking at teeing up with Mitch at WA Performance to do some mods to my car (before xmas if all goes well) and also to service it....basically be my trusted mechanic and go fast bits man...
how have you found there service, pricing and advice?
I have heard a lot of good stuff about them.

sorry to be a pain but do you have much trouble with speed bumps and driveways etc with the car lowered. i really wanna do mine to a nice ride height (bottom of guard level with tyres...maybe 30mm drop) but dont want to tear off exhausts and damage underbody and bodykit...

dont forget also that your insurence wont cover you.
remember it is against the law for p platers to drive high powered vehicals, and insurence companies dont pay out to law breakers just like they wont pay a drunk persons claims.
trust me i went through this with the ss i put a deposit on.
good luck to you anyway.

i definatly wouldnt be driving around uninsured ...

vyssbeast: I didnt realise how awesome of a photo that is! Nice backdrop ay? :D

vt350phantom: Just over $3000 from West State Tyres in Bentley in Perth. Comes with 245/35/19 Federal Tyres.

DeanoHSV: Yeah man I saw these at bob janes too, but they are a little different I think, plus they were 18's. Mitch does great work and you'll be pleased with the end result. Plus car servicing is cheap as! As far as suspension, yes it does scrape but its mostly the exhaust. If your worried about that, and you dont mind spending a bit of coin, I would suggest coil-overs.

i was thinking of going the Tein Suspension for commodores which allows for spring height adjustment and shock adjustment (each shock 16adjustments) but at $2700 for the setup :( it will have to wait till stereo system goes in and performance mods. gotta have the priorities :yup:

i am with RAC insurance like you. how do you go with all the mods? are they happy to still insure or are the mods a secret? :hide:

INSINR8R

if you prang it, you won't be covered. they'll do an assessment, find mods you didn't tell them about and void you.

EXCESSV
21-09-2006, 06:05 PM
yeah thats what i am worried about so when it comes to the mods i will ask them before i do and if they say they wont cover...off to Just Car Insurance....unlimited mods (as long as legal) and they will cover...although they dont do agreed value any higher than market value + 20%

I had tints that were too dark to be legal on vt...had a prang and was worried assesor would notice but he didnt even flinch...it just depends.

most places dont have assessors and you just take it to a recommended repairer and the ins company never sees it unless the claim sounds dodgy...each to there own

nice ride mate. I have a love/hate relationship with those seats. They feel awesome and make my SS seats feel like a bench seat, but that trim....eeerrrghhhh, what were HSV thinking!!! Anyway, minor concern cause thats a fine looking ride as I said. Never seen those wheels b4, but I do like 'em

Bet your step dad is fuming you have a tougher car than him huh ;)

One question though.. When u say $400 for the plates, is that a once of payment, or do u have to pay $400/year. When I was in WA a few months ago I was amazed at the amount of full custom plates I saw and have been meaning to ask what the go is. I know in NSW it's expensive as hell. Several hundreed for the plates, the several more hundreed per year to keep them. It sux. (although the plates i want are still not taken :) )

Oh and one last thing....is that OTRCAI Stainless? It looks like it is, and it looks the business for sure.

RAC are ok with some mods, mines covered with extractors, cats, cat back. I had to have upgraded brakes which was their only stipulation which I already have. They asked what power increase they gave I told them 20kw(as per extractor manufacturer, which was crap) and they said ok. I'm lucky I still have my MAF so no assessor with ever no it's been tuned.
I think your age might be what they have a problem with, but I'd be switching ASAP as there are are a lot wankers in Perth driving without insurance and I'd hate your ride to be ****ed up by one of them and RAC blowing you off because of your mods.

I have heard your ride, Mitch started her up in the workshop a little while ago to let me hear it. Oh f*^#@ it is loud. Man surely the cops must love you, P's an all.
Anyway love your ride, I'll be keeping an eye out for you and watching for any new photos you post.

Funnily enough I havent been pulled over since July, have had the odd glance or two but thats about it.

And its loud coz my mum wanted it loud! Haha contrary to what people think, I liked it with the resonator on it.

Yeah the altezza lights are shithouse. The need to be rewired so that the other globes are the headlights (in the middle) Those lights looked great but you couldnt see much at night

Have to agree with that. Personally I dont think the altezza lights look good either, but thats my opinion. Anyway Ive seen this beast else where on the net and I still reckon it is one of the toughest looking I've seen. Well Done INSINR8. I LOOOOOOVE YOUR WORK

turning right at an intersection didn't see the car coming, went to take off and it was right there, got hit side on. brother was passanger but hes fine. occupants of the other car are fine, but yeah, cars rooted.

I got a fractured wrist, the mum driver and one of her kids suffered a broken arm each, but they're ok.

Sorry to hear about your car but glad everyone involved managed to get out of it relatively well.

I remember checking out pics of your car and it sure was a wicked ride you had there.

Let the planning begin for INSINR8R No.2

Maybe INSINGTSTT ???? doesnt quite have the same ring to it but I'm sure you'd put up with it if the car matched the plates.

Good luck.

Frank.
