GTO - 255kw
GTS - 300kw

Thats the main diff anyway. They both have different external and internal finishes and I think the GTS has better brakes and suspension.

GTS has 19" wheels, GTO makes do with 18".

GTS has much much better brakes. 6 piston front / 4 piston rear AP Racing

GTS also comes with 3.9 diff standard (hydratrak) and different spring rates to the GTO

GTS also comes with 3.9 diff gears, compared to 3.7 for the GTO (manual that is).

The GTS has the 300kw Callaway C4B engine, which has different heads and camshaft and funky red engine covers to the LS1 engine in the GTO.

The brakes are 6 piston stoppers up front and 4 out back compared to the 2 pot jobbies on the GTO (you could option up the GTO to have the better brakes).

Suspension is different as is the wheels, 19" versus 18". Also the GTS has the shift light in the instrument cluster whereas the GTO doesn't.

You also get the short shift gear stick in the GTS, not so in the GTO.

And of course you also get the exclusivity of the GTS badge....

Can't tell that I'm biased hey..

Cheers

C4B is a worked LS1, its worked by Callaway with different heads and cam. So to answer your question in the most simple instance, YES.

However there is more too it than "just a worked LS1"

True - The big difference is you can do all the same (or more) stuff to an "SS", Clubby etc and it still won't be a GTS.

yeh no doubt not trying to make a GTS just gettin abit of an education lol i know you can do the same stuff & more to an SS or so on and make it even quicker than a GTS but thats a stock car. Which brings up another question, would the GTS idle like a stocker or would it be abit lumpy like a cammed car?? or are the heads/cams suited to give a smooth combo?

The difference was 20 plus grand plus the fact the GTS is no longer built.

Another difference.... the GTS will often need an engine rebuild before the odometer reaches 6 digits.

GTS is a limited edition model though, it will appear again, most likeley not until the VE, LS7 aswell.

Do you don't think a "last of the Coupes" will be released by HSV and called GTS? I am hanging out for something like this!

Because the cam and lifters wear out, springs break (recalled). I wouldnt say "all" but quite a few had this problem. I know of one in a workshop right now with a spun bearing waiting for a new engine (Holden dont have any spares for it)

Actually the springs breaking has absolutely nothing to do with cam/lifter wear. It is because the ovoid springs they used in the C4B engine weren't up to the GTS cam spec.

So this is a common problem with them?

At last count there were 14 C4B's reported here alone, all with cam damage.

This is exactly the point I have been making for the last 6 months..HSV have NO re-sale value.Saw a 2002 model GTS (a genuine car)on Ebay a couple of months back available in Sydney ,40,000 klms, drivaway $35,000 with $12,000 worth of upgrades. This is bull shit !!!Holden......suffer in your jocks!!!!!

It's not a problem if you buy them secondhand. I bought a 3 year old car for half the original price, someones loss is someone elses gain.

If you don't want to lose excessive money, don't buy new...

True but there is NOTHING like picking up a brand new car, especially a HSV.
