My Z06 is spending a lot more time in it's garage these days!!!
The GTO windows are now tinted... not shown in these pics. The wheel/tire combo is TSW Montage 19X8 40mm and 19X9.5 45mm with Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's 235-35/19 front and 275-30/19 rear.

It would be inappropriate of you to start a thread mentioning you have a Z06 and then not include pictures of it also.
I'm generally not a big fan of black wheels on cars, but on the red coupe they look quite striking.
Nice car(s) and welcome to the forums.

Nice cars, I'm not a big fan on black rims either, but they look pretty sick with the hot red paint job, nice work.

Instant ban for having such a clean car! ;)
In fact 2 clean cars, absolutely disgraceful! have 2 bans! ;);)
There should be a ban button for making the mods jealous! ;)
Flipping nice cars! :D

VERY nice cars, you are very lucky, & very lucky indeed to own the Z06. Would it be possible to give us any comparison at all between the two cars, or are they just too different? Is there anything that beats the Z06 on the road?
Cheers, Pickles.
can't help but drool over the black one

What a beautiful pair of rides
Another nod for the black rims... very nice.
As posted, your thoughts / comparison would make an interesting read.

First, thank you for all of the compliments!! You are right, I am a very lucky man to be able to own both of these cars!
Interesting you should ask for a comparison.... The GTO is my daily driver.I bought the GTO (my birthday present to me, I traded a 05 Subaru Legacy GT LTD) on a Friday afternoon and was having blast driving it... my inital thoughts and impressions were that beacuse the GTO had an LS2 and the same gearbox/rear axle ratios as the Z06 that there should be a lot of simalarities between the two cars. After driving the GTO exclusively for 10 days, I had to leave it for a couple of days at the body shop to have the holes closed on the trunk after removing the spoiler. I also had the lower piece on the rear bumper painted a satin black to match the other black trim on the car. So, I brought the Z out and within 2 blocks of my home I realized that there was really no way to compare the two rides... In fact I looked in the rearview and I had this big goofy grin goin' on. I really love the Z06... it is an amazing machine and at that moment I was glad that I didn't have much to compare. (bear in mind the Z has 515rwhp with the blower) This is what I can tell you...both cars have plenty of torque off idle and actually drive very nice in traffic.. I have a particular stretch of road that I like to let my cars loose on. It begins with a big sweeping 270 degree right hander that deecends to a piece of freeway (3 lanes) that is a short "spur" about 3/4 of a mile long leading to the major interstate that runs through Tacoma/Seattle, I-5. Still descending it makes a dog leg to the left and then a gentle right where after about 500 feet it is divided up by the distributor lanes that feed the interstate northbound and southbound, plus a lane that directs you to another "spur" that skirts the city center (downtown) and then down a scenic parkway along the Puget Sound waterfront. In the Z06, when there is no other traffic, it is effortless to to exit the sweeper at 90+ mph and be passing 120 at the dog leg left. Right after the gentle right the car is pushing 140 and you have to reel it in pretty fast to join the slow (50 mph) traffic exiting from the interstate onto the lower spur into town. The Z is tight and FLAT and with the S/C the accelleration from 2500 to 6500 RPM can be brutal.. it breaks the rear tires loose at will in 1-3 gears... so you have to learn to roll it in smoothly. The Z also has street legal race compounded tires (Nitto 555R2's) that are incredibly sticky!!! This car is an adrenelene rush!!!
The GTO on the other hand accelerates like my old 1998 C5 convertible, which was VERY RESPECTABLE, it revs fast (seems like I always tickle the rev limiter in 1st and 2nd gear it comes up so quick) the exhaust tone is way understated until you get on it and then it sounds frikken' awesome! With the OEM tires the turn in's seem a bit tentitive, but after the sidewall of the 45 series (KDWS) dry, wet, and SNOW tires get done flexing the car carves very nicely... running the GTO down my little "test track" doen't quite raise the pulse like the Z does.. but it still will tickle the lower triple digits with ease. For sure there is a bit more body roll that I am accustomed to but with the T/C turned off and a flick of the accellerator the ass end kicks out and a whole new type of fun can be had!!!! I have yet to give it a go with the new wheels and tires on the car... but I am sure it could only be an improvement. The interior is fabulous! I wish the Corvette had as nice of an interior.. the GTO seats are great and really support the body MUCH better than the Corvette seats. There are a couple of suspension/handling issues I plan on addressing in the very near future, I think some better anti-sway bars are a must along with upgrading the bushings and changing springs/dampers. I like the stock ride height in back, but would like to see the front about .75 - 1.0 inch lower. (For curb speed)
For me the GTO is a perfect compliment to the Z06... its a great performing car with seats for 4.... and actually seems to get as much or maybe more attention than the Z06 when it's on the street! (it's that RED paint!) As for how I decide which one to drive... on my days off work I really like to drive the Z, sometimes if the car is already out I drive it to work. Because of the weather patterns in this part of the US it isn't unusual to get caught out in the rain.. although it is much more fun to drive when it is dry.. I've learned that a Corvette is just another "MASS" produced car and you can't enjoy it if it is sitting in the garage! Plus there is this stuff called soap and water... it does amazing things for dirty cars!!!
Drive 'em, wash 'em, and drive 'em some more!!! Have FUN!

Mr forrestd has some black track rims for his red CV8-R ... looks great IMO. Yours looks just as good, black wheels on a red car certainly works !!!

Great cars, and what a team to have in the garage.
Wheels look great.
As for the Z06, I think that's the finest looking one I've seen so far.
Why aren't GM importing vettes into oz
Many here have spent more on their rides than a new vette would cost lended and converted to RHD. :yup:

Should be illegal to have two great cars like that. Especially the Corvette.
You can park that Corvette in my garage any time. It'll keep my Trans Am company.:driving:

Love them rides GTO Roper....
I held an LS1 cruise on 25 June this year in Perth. We had 37 cars attend the day and whilst in Fremantle waiting to leave on our next leg of the cruise this car "popped" in to say hello. A many jaws dropped in an instant....:kneel:
