Just wanting to know if anyone has attempted or heard of it being done and how hard it would be? Is it like the old chev's into vb/vk where a dry sump was the best option?
Any help would be great.
Cheers.

there is one bloke on here with an LS1 in a VN commo ... im assuming this is basically the same engine bay as a VS ute would have so it shouldnt be too difficult. search "my vn ls1" or something like that and hopefully you can find the guy and PM him for info.
cheers

Its not cheap or easy, there are a lot of parts required plus some tricky wiring issues. Getting a wreck would be the best option but the ute would want to be something pretty special already to concider it. Got 15-20k? I think thats what it cost the last guy to actually do it. You do realise that you can buy a LS1 ute for 20k though...?

it all depends on what you wanna do with it and what combo you want. what gearbox is going behind it, as for conversion wise they are simple and not to badly priced but if your going manual it will cost an extra 1 to 2 grand over an auto. ive got a set of ectractors here for one of these conversions and also can get the engine mounts, and starter and conversion plate. mine cost me under 15 all up including car with a 9" diff and all driveline and i did the work myself. and im only 17 and didnt think it was to bad to do.

No real tricky wiring ussie voodoo, all pretty simple stuff. The biggest issue fitting them them to Pre VT commodores are the pipes, there is nothing off the shelf atm that fits properly.

cheers guys. a mate of mine is wanting to do this. he is a mechanic and has a ls1 and 6spd lined up. Have a mate who is a fitter and another a boiler maker. they have custom made a few sets of extractors as "foreignies" at work so may be able to source from them.
Cheers for the info.

When i had mine done back in 2002 it cost me thousands, it is a talking point for sure but really a blown 5ltr stroker would have been cheaper.

don't know exactly now as the car has now had the block rebuilt with forgies new scat rods rings etc balanced. the car is at present getting a newer G2 Link ecu we are hoping the car will be around + or - 450fwkw it had done a slow 12.7 cam only as my spoiler kit does slow the car down for drag racing its a VP race kit.
