I have allways liked the idea of nos but wanted some feed back on a few things from those who have got,had or work on NOS Ls1's .

.Safety of nos:
.engine reliability of arround 100hp kit:
.Rough pricing:
.Perth fitters:
.legality in Perth:
.Any other pro's or con's:

Any feed back appriciated thanks Daz.

There no such thing as Legal Nitrous.

Apparently you can get done for even having the lines installed.

N20 is as safe as you'd like, both for your motor and health.

100hp kit? Why not 150?

Not cheap, especially to have it tuned to suit. But well

I know a Kalgoorlie N20 user/fitter.. He loves the stuff. Havent heard of anyone in Perth thats half as keen on it.

Legality? Its not. You can have lines, foggers and even a dirty big button that says "NOS - HIT TO GO FAST (but only on a racetrack)" .. But no pressurized cylinder is legally allowed in the vehicle unless approved (LPG is fine, BBQ, N20, Helium .. not legal, according to WA law) and it certainly cannot be connected.
I've heard of the boys in blue going easy for having a bottle (or bottles), but if its connected your rooted.

Your best option is to have it hidden, dont mount the foggers in clear view and keep the lines well hidden.. make a trim panel up for the boot (Or loose the spare tyre and put it in the tyre well)

Pro's: It makes bulk power, its cheap, its got brilliant cooling properties but needs to be a properly setup system. You'll enjoy big gains for a fairly cheap outlay (just under the 2k mark inc tune I would have thought)..

Cons: Its not legal, your insurance could be interesting if you come to grief with it connected, Its got a 'ricey' image thanks to a certain movie .. but its been used for years with massive success in many forms of motor.

i have bought a new manifold ready to be machined to take a nitrous setup. i have been told it is perfectly safe to run on even a standard EFI V8, is this true do other guys know what the go is? (obviously being tuned and installed properly)

so your doing a direct port setup?? that will work a treat!

NOS is great stuff, just get someone who knows the stuff to set it up, make sure the arming switches etc are fool proof cause if you try and start the car and the nos comes on at the same time you will blow your inlet manifold to pieces!

I'd luv to use N20, but here in sunny QLD if you so much as has it plumbed (even with no bottle at all) you can just about kiss your ride goodby .......... and have it impounded.
Cheers

If the fitter takes his time you can hide the whole lot and no one is the wiser just be inventive when mounting everything.

Like a bloke up here with an R33 the night he was installing it, getting ready for a dyno comp the next day .. the intake, piping, intercooler all the way to the turbo filled up with N20 and he started the motor .. the throttle butterfly looked like a banana .. the car went straight to redline and stayed there .. Not funny for him .. but he can laugh about it now.

We have stuff in our custom operating systems where the NOS is onlyoperatable within a rpm and map window , as well as VE multiplication when the NOS is active and Spark retard when the NOS is active.

Have been happily running a 100hp shot on my SS for over 12 months with no problems, failures or complaints... If anything, when I haven't used it for a while, the car seems to run better after a quick shot of gas.

No other mods.. Standard Airbox, Standard Headers, Stock Engine, and still good for a 12.88@113.

Is there a nos setup that can be installed and run without the need to retune the car for it? ie just install it fill up the bottle and away you go? Is this the whole idea of a wet shot? Im curious about it but dont really know a great deal. Cheers

im in the same boat...without being a total dick is it like the whole gone in 60 secs where the 'go baby go' button makes it whoop ass for a little bit, then bam, your out of nos and you need to refill somewhere....if so whats a refill worth roughly? Or can you get a couple of shots out of the one bottle?
