You can always get one put in. I don't think they cost that much.

Performance mods are normally where peoples hard earned goes though.

The enclosure is made of fibreglass and covered in carpet. Fits in firmly and wastes no space.

Not real sure what's behind it. All I know is that it fits in nice and neat, sounds good and looks very factory. Except for the big sub.

Mate, that clubby is MINT! Love the colour - esp in the sunlight. If you ever want to part with it (e.g. at the end of the year when I'm buying http://www.********************/images/smilies/biggrin.gif) send me a PM & let me know! But until then... I'll keep wishing http://www.********************/images/smilies/tongue.gif. Cheers

hey mate i just bought a vx series 2 r8.. i like the look of your intake , where can i get one from and does it do anything to the performance of the car?

nice ride i like the colour. mine's silver. hoping to post pics soon.

I got the intake from Marannos a site sponsor.

I had a mail-order mafless tune from chipmaster done at the same time as I put the intake on and it increased the performance a lot. I think about 7mph over the quarter with the two mods. The car previously had a maf tune and mcai.

The only thing I don't like about the intake is cleaning the filter. It is a foam unifilter which gets dirty quickly and is sort of a pain in the arse to clean.

Chris, you don't happen to be any relation to Brett do you?

Well it's been a while so I thought I'd start again.

A fair bit has changed since last time I posted in this thread. I live in WA now after spending 3 kick-ass years in Darwin.

The Clubby looks and sounds a little different too.

I'm not to fussed about the sheets. You can put em up if you want. It will be a good comparison to see the differences there is after getting a few thousand kms under it's belt.

It should definitely get some better results now too, as it feels like it's loosened up a heap since I first got it.

I know it's got power by the way people hang on and go silent when I nail it.

and what better combo than a Street Quick Prepared engine with a Chipmaster tune....all it needs now is a Marks Workshop blower package :nyuk:

is the LS7 simply a crate motor or a LS7 with some Street Quick spicy bits?

cant wait to see and hear it at Pro Auto day :yahoo:

at least you did it the right way...big well built engine to get good power...not the cop out of throwing budget turbos on a standard engine then just a matter of waiting for it to go bang

That's the whole idea. Under the hood looks very normal unless you have a bit of knowledge about them.
It has a couple of giveaways but nothing really obvious or over the top.

20's are now gone and the stocker 18's are back on. It's been lowered in the arse more than this photo but you get the idea.

http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i41/kpwishn/DSC00926.jpg

The car is staying stock on the outside now. To much unwanted attention with 20's and a busted guard to boot.

I've ordered some of the Marangoni Mythos tyres. Hopefully can get a bit more power to the ground with these babies.

Just wondering what you ended up doing with your 20's? Whenyou say they are gone, did you sell them or are you in the process of selling them because im on the market for some new 20"s.

Sold them to Matt (vxSSilver). 20's are just to big for me. I don't like babying the car because of a set of rims. The maximum tyre width you can fit is 225 aswell. No good when under pressure from the 427.

The car did look mint with them on but I'm going for a more aggressive look and feel. I'm trying to get some Oz Racing 18" rims for it that should give it the right attitude for me and they're light weight too, which is a bonus.

Ahhhhh, ok, now I understand where you're coming from! One of the main reasons why I didn't go for a deep dish is so she still looks standard from the outside so the Police might leave me alone, lol. We'll see how that goes! :)

You're still thinking about mini tubbing and the 3.3ltr Whipple? If that's the case, don't buy any rims yet, as you'll need to get either 19x10's or 20x10's! :)

I still love the look of your car mate, well done!! :)

KPWISHN

Was my first time to the track with the new motor and the first time I'd run with a set of MT's. Best run was a 11.35 @ 124 mph. Best mph was 125. It weighed 1840 with me in it, so it's pretty heavy.

Hopefully with some practice I can run a 10.

Good effort on your first time out mate. I wish I could leave the line like that. What RPM were you leaving at and what 60'? Im sure with a few more laps under your belt theres a 10 there for you with that setup. Are you keen to go the way of a strip down + 90/10's ect or happy to run as you drive it?

I think I was leaving the line at about 3-4000rpm. Best 60 footer was 1.759 on my quickest run. I tried one 5000rpm launch but got mass wheelspin. I've worked out I need to give it a much bigger burnout next time and then will see how it goes.

I'm not real keen on stripping it down or 90/10's. Will see how I go as is. If I have to then I'll do that stuff but for now I'll start by not filling the car with fuel on the way to the track and maybe getting rid of some of the crap out of the car like fire extinguisher and other unnecessary accessories.

KPWISHN

It's an NPC twin plate. They have a website somewhere. John sorted it for me.

I wouldn't recommend it though unless you really need it. It's very aggressive and not the most street friendly clutch but it definitely doesn't slip. Saj has one now too I think.

It's an NPC twin plate. They have a website somewhere. John sorted it for me.

I wouldn't recommend it though unless you really need it. It's very aggressive and not the most street friendly clutch but it definitely doesn't slip. Saj has one now too I think.thanks lewis.
spoke to john this morning and we talked future mods and what i use the car for and he recommended the CentreForce DFC so off to him in a couple of weeks for a new one.

Drivetrain is all Ok ATM. 6spd is a little noisy but nothing to major. Got new axles and diff sorted when the motor went in.

I normally run a set of AP brakes and they're fine. The stockers that are on ATM for drag racing are sh!t house though.

It's not that lumpy, well, it's fairly lumpy. It's more like a solid smoothe noise with a real presence more so than a big lope like similar cams get in 346's.

Awsome thanks for the reply. Nice to see someone upgrading the basics with such a power increase. Too many of my mates have trippled their power output only to run stock brakes etc and continue to break/smash parts over and over again *shakes head* silly boys
Any chance when you get time of a vid/sound clip of your car at idle? I know its not as accurate as being right next to the car, but interested in hearing what a worked 7ltr sounds like ;)

I'll take some video of it sitting at idle probably next time I take it to the track. That way I'll have a video camera ready.

Chipped a little closer to a 10 last night. Pulled a couple of 11.1's.

http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i41/kpwishn/motorplexshrunk0712071.jpg

I'm losing major time due to my suspension setup. It's standard FE2 springs with Koni red shocks. Nothing special. It's wasting lots of power picking up and dropping the fronts on gear changes. The car fully bottoms out on take off. I mean it drags it's arse on the ground and on gear changes it really jumps around aswell. The car wild as hell off the line. Pulling 1.5 sixty footers in a M6.

John changed my fuel system a bit too and Daniel did a little more mucking around with the tune.

Big thanks to Deb who was pointing out my inadequacies too. I will try and do something about it for next time and pull that 10.

In respect to a roll cage, I'm not too sure. I enjoy the racing and would like to continue if I can run a 10.XX, but funds would be what it would come down to for a while.

Before I get ahead of myself though I need to run a ten to even start worrying about it.

If I can get a removable non-intrusive cage like the one in PRO346 and all is good to keep running then I'd do it.

I don't really want to take the streetable nature away from the car. Had a big cruise up through the hills yesterday with the baby seat in action and the family all had a great time. This is what I had the car built for and this has to continue.

Won't put a charger on for a while I'd think. Probably within a year though.

Can't wait till my daughter is old enough to jump in the car seat and support her own head. That was the only negative about the weekend I suppose. Poor missus and young one had to sit in the sun all day and couldn't come for a cruise.

Breaking driveline parts is inevitable. Lucky I have great support from some great workshops which makes it a lot easier and stress free.

Here's a photo of the rig cruising. (Thanks to garvs from SC) I forgot to take a camera.

Im not too sure if the same applies with wheels, But see if you can get black anodised, That would be something totally different from the rest of the crowd, and it looks awesome. If not definately get them powdercoated, not painted, As you would be surprised with the amount of stonechips you get on the front wheels

I took the car for a big cruise on the weekend (450km). Didn't miss a beat, It was thriving on the conditions infact. :)

I still can't get over the balls this car has when overtaking. It pulls hard as all $$$$ at highway speeds and feels like it just doesn't want to stop. I'd love to get on an airstrip or something and really test it out.

It achieved 354km to a tank of fuel which isn't too bad at all.

Got the car back on the road. It's been a while since I had driven on the street. Wheels are back after a few months getting powder coated. Main reason it wasn't driven for so long. Need to give it a good wash and get some decent photo's of the rig.

The car is going as hard as ever. Traction is a problem for sure. John (HOWQUICK) spent time putting in some titanium valves and some new springs and retainers aswell as readjusting everything and getting it all spot on after a year of me beating up on it. Look forward to next season at the track. Expectations are high going off the "seat of pants" meter. Last time out It ran an 11.01 @126MPH.

You got nothin to be jealous of Shane, some mates saw you in the black GTS and needed to change their undies after hearing it.

Car looks mint Lewis, good on you for going the white rims. As race spec as it can get, and well deserved on your ride.

Took the car for another go at the drags yesterday. First time this season. 11.0 @ 122 was me best with a couple of 1.5 60'ers. MPH was down due to a major headwind. The track condition was the best I've raced on. It will all come together one of these days.

No breakages was bliss. :)

After such an enjoyable day at the track, I think I'm going to up the anti a little and start racing in super street like some of the other boys. Not until next season though. Will give me time to set the car up a bit better. For now though I'll be getting back down there and keep on plugging for a 10 in NA M6 form.

How crap was the wind last night??? I was trying to play volleyball haha! Love your car man. I first saw it along Canning ages ago, I nearly twisted my head off coz I couldn't take my eyes of it haha.

Yeah the wind was terrible. I was making a couple of MPH more at half track but pushing shit up hill after half track against the wind. Still stoked to get an 11.0 at only 122MPH with the M6. Makes me feel better about my M6 skills. :driving:

I will play this season out as is and make a bit of a decision come the off season about what to do going forward. Might get an auto ute and give it a real shalacking.

This is what a 1.5 60' looks like in the heavy bitch. :D Fkn love it. Phil takes an awesome pic. http://www.highoctanephotos.com/modules/drags0809/albums/userpics/Kwinana/20081029_Motorplex_Test_n_Tune/20081029-IMG_8281.jpg

The goal has been achieved. NA M6 into the 10's.

http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i41/kpwishn/drags3011081.jpg

As for plans going forward. Retirement and cruising duties for the clubsport. Will probably chuck the motor in an auto ute and whack a very largish cam in it and aim for 9's next. Another baby on the way atm, which is our first priority but should have a drag spec ute in the next year or two. Followed by FI and then aim for 8's. You guys know how it goes. :)

Use and abuse is the name of the game in 09.

1200km driving/camping trip over the weekend. Just got home last night, 4 tanks of Ultimate later. South West WA got a good old ear full from the 427 as it whooped through some very nice roads. Balingup to Nannup was a real highlight. Awesome road indeed. Was just driving around finding good roads and setup camp wherever we ended up. :)

Esky Shot (used and abused has begun on that too in 09) :) :

Yep, I built it for having fun in with the family and we all enjoy getting out and about in it. I had been up in Coral bay for a couple of weeks up in the NW doing the boat and 4X4 thing, then got home and felt the need for speed. :) A quick stop at Kmart on the way ensured we had enough camp equipment to last for a couple of nights in the bush.

The car didn't miss a beat. The OTR filter will probably require a good wash today after the gravel tracks the rig saw. Will get out there today and see how it looks.

How did you go with the shocks?

KPWISHN
05-01-2009, 09:43 AM
All good. Bolted the whole setup in at home. Still need to go and get a wheel alignment though. I put a set of springs on them though that are a little low. Might get another set that aren't quite so low for a bit more of a friendly ride.

How did you go with the 90/10's? Saw your vid from the other week and looked as though it stood up pretty tall.

They got the 60" times down to a 1.49 but still didnt get the front up as high as yours, I need more cubes . :)

A 1.4 60 footer. Well done. That's honkin. The extra length of the ute might not be helping with getting the front up either. Either way that's still an awesome 60 footer. 0.1 quicker than I could ever get.

KPWISHN
07-01-2009, 07:28 AM
Me too. :) The spoiler was off for weight reduction at the drags along with the spare, jack, sub and amps from the boot. Still fairly heavy at a touch over 1800kg. Stock brakes were on it too to fit the stocker rims. It looks like an old pig with steelies and no spoiler. Very happy with how it's all going atm.

I reckon it will be a top event to go as a spectator. Last year was good fun being an entrant but I didn't do any driving events except for the supercruise. This year I'll be spectator and maybe next year I'll go back in it and enter a few driving events.

Hmm, I like the look of the launch. Watching my vids again and seeing the gearshifts making the car bounce makes me think it's time for some 90/10's, especially since we have lost the open speed limit up here, the car is never going to go around corners hard any more.

Look forward to having some beers on Aus day with you mate.

I'm in Pine Creek atm. Fly back to Perth on Friday arvo. You'll have to organise something and I'll see if I'm able to come. Current Job I'm at up here doesn't have much room for unscheduled journey's unfortunately. Surely the other boys would be keen as for a run. Sounds like some good mods happening to the silver beast anyway. :) Got that Orange sucker up and ready to rumble?

Only updates for my clubbie is some HID's. Fark they are bright. Gotta try and stop myself chucking more weight in it. Soon it'll be a Two Tonne Tessie.
