My wife told me last night that when she tried to start the SV8 at work it fired then stopped, then needed another three starts to get it running. She didn't touch the accelerator, but may have turned the key off "start" too early; i.e. before the car had actually started properly. I've *never* had this problem with the car in the three years I've driven it. I drove it from dead cold this morning and it was fine. Restarted it when I got to work and it was fine again. Has anyone else had/heard-of a similar problem? Nothing to worry about or precursor of something more sinister?
FYI: VY1 SV8 May '03 Build, dead stock .. 100,000km.

I had the same thing happen to my VT2 SS about 6 months ago with 90000K on the clock. Has never done it again, I just put it down to one of those things.......and never worried about it again.

It could just be the cold nights/mornings that we have had recently.
I wouldn't worry too much unless it becomes regular.

Yes I have. A while back I turned the key and released it just
prior to the motor firing up. On the second attempt it took
probably nearly 10-15 seconds of cranking for the motor to
start. Not sure if fuel injected cars can get flooded like a
carby car, but that was what it felt like.

yeh this has happened to me before
as your wife mentioned, i didnt hold the key long enough so just before it turned over i let go. Upon trying to restart it again it struggles u just need to give it abit of gas and shes fine ... thats all there is too it
my car can go days without being driven and starts perfectly on a cold morning... this problem can happen even if the car is warm if you dont hold the key long enough
so its nothing to worry bout

Yes , i have caught the ava out a couple of times. Mainly when in a hurry, didnt let pump prime up on a hot day after sitting for a while.
