Sorry Ryzz, i usually get my mag about six months after every one else. Quote " No 1 Toyota lexus RX 330, 2 2003 Subaru Impreza GX Hatchback,3 2004 Toyota Camry sportivo, 4 2004 Holden astra hatch,5 1999 Nissan maxima,6 2004 ford falcon, 7 1999 Mazda 626 classic, 8 2002 Mazda wagon, 9 2003 Honda oddyssey, 10 2002 Maxda 626 Classic. So its official: the cardigan brigade is in the thick of the accidents and not a single performance car in sight. " Quote " people who drive these cars aren't interested in developing their driving skills. They buy them because they are only interested in driving from A to B and its only a matter of time before they crash & burn. Where are the ss commodores, xr6 turbos, FPVs & HSVs? "
Cardigan wearers:bravo:

It's simple, ban all the cars listed. The roads will be alot safer !
(Falcon is in there but not the Commodore - must be better drivers !!)

Sorry Grudge, i know i know. A camry sportivo is one of the cars on my wish list for when i am 50, then i can pull up next to all the ls1/2 owners & drag them off at the lights. I must admit i have been beaten by a few camry sportivo drivers in recent times. Mrs Avalanche & i play a game called drag off the idiots with out going over 2000 revs. Some time u have to let the A to B driving cardigan wearing, greeny, surveyers & architects beat u to build up their self esteem:stick: oops did i add surveyers & architects to the stereotype???? they must be the ones driving the impreza gx hatchbacks.:lmao:

I think the word he was looking for is "not".

The Camry Sportivo is about as sporty as a brick with a bodykit.

Wake up people...performance cars aren't in the list because they make up a relatively small amount of the total cars on the road.

Typical example of statistics being used in the wrong way.

I have no official statistics, but I dare say there's a few more SS Commodores on the road than Lexus RX330's.

Have a look on the way home tonight - I'll bet you spot a few more SS's than RX330s.

;)

Cheers,

Thats right Febs, its just that while taking clients out in your lexus answering their questions , talking on the mobile & driving while checking out real estate doesnt a good driver make.. They are the new poormans mercedes. VZSS250, then why are the performance cars & drivers getting the blame & wearing the higher premiums????? Quote " AAMI spokesman Geoff Hughes. He said he was surprised at the results as he expected that hotted up cars driven by young people would have been involved in more accidents. He then said. Its difficult to make definitive statements, but i suppose the top three cars are sporty vehicles whose owners tend to drive a bit quicker, which causes accidents, "
Top 3 cars are sporty, yeah right. Seem like AAMI thought that the results would show a different picture. Bit of bad luck that.

Its the same in the building industry. I had to pay home owners warranty on kitchens that i produced. It was the builders causeing all the quality & completion issues in the trade, yet the specialist trades cop all the premiums & have no claims against them.

Yeah I heard that, haven't had such a good laugh in ages. They are the top three cars for accidents, ergo they *must* be driven fast, and hence must be "sporty". Look out, the cardigans are on the prowl ...

AAMI figures??.... But if its based on AAMI insured vehicles might depend how MANY performance vehicles they pick up at their rates....

Never tried to insure with them so perhaps just speculation.

From what I understand, Just Cars is AAMI's arm for performance vehcles. If you call AAMI for a quote for a perfomance car or for a young driver they will pass you on to Just Cars. AAMI provides the underwriting for Just Cars though. Saying that, I wonder if Just Cars data was included in these figures ??

Righto class! Come to order please! It's good to see that someone else can be pedantic and pick on spelling errors...;)
But back to the original thread - accident frequency. I know that statistics can't be fudged  but I wonder if AAMI will even cover so-called sporty cars, or if their premiums for these types of cars are so prohibitive as to be unpalatable, and therefore their portfolio is minute... If their insurable criteria is so selective as to deliberately exclude these types of cars and only attract cardigan-wearers, so the data will be skewed... I know, I know...I'm a sceptical old coot..

So out of the whole magazine this was the bit that caught your attention? Not the 911 Turbo or the Ferrari or Lambo or even the twin turbo Saleen? Not even the VE SS photos?? Not meant to be a shot at you bloke, just a light hearted observation...

No offence taken. To tell u the truth i dont really have much interest in the top end stuff & i dont think i ever will untill i have the cash together to walk in & buy one of the latest model lambos. If there is articals on local performance stuff im there. Thats part of the reason i subscribed motor instead of wheels.
Hey Warden, this ex box builder used to drive a mitsu challenger. Yes i left the cardigan in the back. That car should have been on the top of the accident list for 2004. In its first year we were in 3 accidents not our fault.

Nope, they insure me with exhaust, edit, rims, lowered all noted on policy and are as cheap or cheaper on premiums than anyone else.
