General Question for those that have a leased Vehicle. Has anyone had experience with the Motorpass Card in comparrison to a Fleetcard. Our company are thinking of changing over to a Motorpass card but I have heard that alot of places do not take them whereas I have had very little problems with the Fleet card.

My company uses VISA because not everywhere takes motorcharge.
Also motorcharge in the past when we used them have doubled up charges so it pays to check accounts with a fine tooth comb-
edit- I've just re-read your post you say motorpass not motorcharge.

Fleetcard is the more popular of the two.

I've used Motorpass for 10 years or so, and have rarely had a problem with places not taking it. They work for most things, fuel, accomodation etc
That is in Vic though - when interstate - it dosnt seem to be as popular as down here.
We also have BP cards which obviously only work at BP's - but you can get kickbacks per litre from trade associations etc.
Havn't got any experience with Fleetcard.

as Fleet Manager at work
(goes along with the titles of CFO CIO Admin Mgr Cust Service Mgr
and all round dogsbody)
we changed to Motorpass about a year ago
why?
they are cheaper (about $80pa per vehicle)
their vehicle reporting is better and their customer
service ABSOLUTELY SHITS on Fleetcard
eg...replacement cards in 24 -36 hrs to you
v Fleetcard 7-10 working days
problems/issues?
there apparently is a large group of Caltex servos in NSW
that won't take them and neither so some (not all) Safeway
but then we have found these also dont take Fleetcard.
so no diff really
hth
cheers

Using Motorpass here but I think some people may be confusing it with Motorcharge. I've used it at BPs in Vic (electronic) and Shell (manual carbon copy swiper thing). Both times they have signs saying "We do not accept Motorcharge".
But yeah, no hassles whatsoever.
Another difference I noticed, BP ask for the Ks which I need to report, Shell don't care. But that might be the case of electronic versus manual.

With electronic at BP they ask for your K's because the screen tells them to. Whereas at Shell they are so pissed of with you for turning up with a Motorpass card (because processing manuals is so slow) they just don't bother asking, to try and get you out of the way from holding up the 10 customers in the line behind you.
Motorpass is cheaper for the end user because they charge higher fees to the Merchant (servos) than other cards. The fees for the electronic link are much higher than manual which is why Shell haven't put it on.

Yeah, that's what I was meaning in my explanation. You just made it clearer. :P
And because of this, I shop for petrol at BP more often than Shell. Plus, when it's late at night, the guys at the local servo know me and don't bother with the pre-pay, my pump is ready and waiting as I get out of the car.
Steve.
Hi Chook,
I have both a Caltex Card and a MotorPass Card. I have had no problems using MotorPass at BP, Shell or Mobile in NSW, but if I am at a Caltex, I use the Caltex Card, so I am not sure if they accept MotorPass.
I have noticed that Shell have to process the card manually and as stated in a post above they do seem to "dislike" it when you pull out the card, but they accept it anyway.
Hope this helps,
Cheers.

I have a motorpass card and haven't had any problems with it. As another person said there was a changeover earlier in the year where many caltex petrol stations stopped accepting motorpass but just about everywhere else is fine.

I think most caltex servos should take either motorpass or fleet card these days. I have been involved with quite a few and they all take both.
Id say we get 50/50 motorpass/fleetcard . . both very popular. Both are easy to process altho I have heard motorpass is a lot more competitive than fleet card these days . . a few years ago most were fleet card - very few motorpass
Dont get many motorcharge these days which is good as we have to manually process them and it sucks!! Even though most of the caltex POS systems have just been changed over from ONQ you still have manually swipe and fill out the damn slips - its so frustrating especially having just changed to a what was marketted as a better more efficient system!!
I have a Shell card and a Motorpass. I am advised to use the Shell card wherever I can as my employer has some contract for cheaper fuel. Never had a problem with Motorpass always accepted.

I know in Sydney most Caltex don't accept Motorpass anymore, I only know of ONE Caltex that still accpets it, the rest all have stickers on the bowsers that say "motorpass will not be accepted from 01/02/06" Not sure of the exact date but it was early in the year.

very intersting fli . . news to me. I personally dont see why they wont accept them its - their loss I guess.
I fit wasnt for fleetcards, motorpass or starcard we would have very little business where i work.
May pay to check out who accepts them in your area before doing the big change over.

Hi all.
Our company uses Fleetcare (dont know if it is the same as Fleetcard). But we are given four cards (Mobil, BP Plus, Caltex Starcard and a Shell card).
We have found this to be very easy as they will all accept there own card, no problem.
Reporting, from what I have seen is very good.
We also get a good discount off the cost of the fuel.
I have'nt seen the web site but here is a link http://www.fleetcare.com.au
This has worked very well for us. Check it out!
Cheers everyone

Why not try Motocharge?
Accepted at pretty much all places and Coles Express aka Shell have it on digital.
