Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone has fitted 245-width tyres to a VX Commodore with FE2? I've been offered a good deal on some very good tyres brand new, but they're 245s and I'm a bit worried they may have clearance issues on the front of my VX Calais.

I've got FE2 with some Pedders gas struts. Height is about average for FE2, but I'm a bit concerned they'll be too wide and might rub on the strut. I just recently fitted some 17" rims with 235s, and they seem close.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers,
- Febs.

im running 245s on an 8.5" rim on my vx, standard fe2 struts with super low's so you wont have any problem with fe2 height.
hsv's came with 245's standard i beleive?

You shouldnt have a problem, im running 245 19s on my VU without an issue.

Also the correct tire size for 17s would be 245/45/17

Cheers

Thanks for the help guys.

Using a 235/45/17 for comparison...
245/45's are 1.4% larger
245/40s are 2.33% smaller

So yeah...245/45's would be better, but there's not a whole lot of difference in it. I don't think the tyres I'm looking at come in a 245/45.

Cheers,
- Febs.

PS: My rims are 8"...245 is the largest allowed for an 8" rim, right?

Actually, I'll have to make sure the load rating (91) is ok too. Anyone know if 91 is OK on a Commodore?

91 is the standard Commodore load rating.

I had 245/45/17's in a Falken Semi-comp and they rubbed in the rear requiring rolling of the gaurds. Fronts would be the same (talking stock stato suspension) and on Grange rims.
