Hey all, just wanted to say hi, I have just purchased a VY Executive Gen3 auto and totally love it.
Its pretty well stock and I have just fitted a try-y system (Red Back) to get a bit more noise/power happening.
I want to very quickly get to the 300kw mark, but do not want to waste all that precious cash along the way. So ear to the ground and get some solid advice is what I have been told and I have found this sight to be the most informative around.. But I still up in the air on the hole Mafless Tune?, edit?, Chip?.
All I want to do is get a good throttle body cold air intake and the computer made so it halls ass.. Any ideas or advice would be very appreciated..:D

Congrats on the purchase! :D Gen 3 Execs are rare beasts - is it ex-police?

The search function is your best friend here. Learn to use it (very easy - the key is picking the right terms to search for) and you will find countless hours of informative reading.

Your cheapest and easiest mod is the 2 hole mod for the airbox - don't get sucked in on spending hundreds of dollars on alternatives which will give you very little extra power. A good read to get you started is http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=33344, especially post #7

Also visit (or ring if too far away) one of the sponsors up there (see the sponsors page). PowerTorque seem to have a very good reputation.

Thanks for the thread Gary, i will nut it out with a good read later.. The Vy was a one owner with 65000 on the clock and the old geezer loved it he put some half decent wheels and tyres on it and had it optioned with power win/Cruz and tint and fe2? suspension, he said it has a lsd in it but it shat me a bit to find out that one wheel was spinning on occasion, had to drive it 1600km as soon as I bought it from noosa to cairns which was fun once it got into the cold air/wet in the mountains.......

Sounds like an ex-police to me:eek: (as you just described my car exactly, except fo rthe LSD part) im the third owner of mine after 75k (30 qld police, 40 the guy i bought it off and then 5k for me)

Regardless, a nice car indeed, sleepers are the best!!!:burnout:

cheers

VY Exec LS1 with FE2 and it sounds like a single spinner.

Definitely ex-Police car.

First point of call for Mods: http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=55597
Then use the Search function for more specific info.

If the logbooks are the original they will read Commissioner of Police.......

It would be an ex Police car. The public couldn't buy VY Exec V8s according to info i've seen.

theres a fair few vx exe gen3's out there, i've seen half a dozen and test driven 2, i have also seen a vx exe 6spd gen3 wagon (respect!)...
heaps rarer to find a vy+ in exe v8, as the public could only buy sv8's... most/all are ex cop cars.

I have a VT exec ls1 manual which has all ss options except the seats and body kit.

Its cheaper to insure than an ss but is essentially the same car!!!

Yeh I know it sounds like a ex police VY and I will endeavour to find out through the mechanic in the log book when I get back to the car cause I work away for 4weeks at a time and so want to drive the thing .. but 3 stone chips on the front and not one other scratch, screw hole or slightest interior defect I think the bloke could be telling the truth..

Stone chips are easily fixed by a quick sprayjob, and the interior parts with screw holes can be replaced at Holden spare parts by the dealer that sold it to the guy you bought it from.
It's not any issue being and ex-cop car if it checks out mechanically fine .... the coppers are a great source of "LS1 Sleepers". Enjoy it! :driving:

absolutly right. nothing wrong with the x-cop sleeper!:headbang: (as long as it checks out mechanically that is)
