Just finished all the interior, put in the wh stato dash facia, painted all the pieces piano black, painted the speedo surround silver with specks of glitter effect. changed all the lights to blue leds and did the roof to the new vy calais black with the sunglasses holder. All the buttons are blue including the hazards, driving lights, headlights, mode switch, power windows, power button, trac control button, gear numbers even the back door buttons for the windows have been changed to blue and the screen on the cluster. Sorry about the grainy shots, some were taken on the camera phone. Have a safe long weekend all. :nyuk:

I don't think you can unless you change the facia with the numbering cause the've got green behind.

Rest of it looks good though.

Nice work. I am keen as mustard to do a blue conversion to my dash area lighting. There has been some that have said that it cant be done, and some that said it can. You have done it, so i would love to know how, how difficult it was, what modifications were needed, how long it took and what globes you used.

Cheers :bounce:

looks excellent mate, well done!

I tried the speedo conversion on an aftermarket speedo but behind the cluster is whats best described as layered paint, the lights acctually sit towards the top of the cluster where the paint is dense, and project the light down the cluster where it gets lighter. Hard concept to explain but basically as I found out once you strip the green paint from the back you end up with extremely bright top end of the cluster and absolutely almost dead bottom end.

I'm interested in converting everything else though, Ive sorta read conflicting bits and pieces about it so I would be most appreciative if you could do us a "definate how too guide" for all the lights.

If I hadnt forked out for a silver SS dash facia I wouldve gone for the stato bits, I realise its more costly but I didnt realise it looked so much better.

Also can I ask hows your Ipod mounted? Currently Ive got the standard holden mobile phone platform with a cheap phone holder mounted too it, just curious what youve done to yours though because its obviously not in the same position as mine!!!

Otherwise congrats to a job well done

Dash can be done, although its a little fiddly

(also see http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=39953)
Can I ask what you did with the Radio ?

I too have done the statesman conversion ... but now my TV/DVD radio thing doesnt fit due to the rounded coreners on the woodgrain facia.. Did you just dremel/cut 90 degree corners into the plastic to fit your head unit ?

Cheers,
Seedy

the stato bits are only about $120 if you get the crappy colour one - 17i pewter is the colour code. then only a little more to paint it prefessionally...

the ipod is mounted on a DIN POCKET. i drilled a L bracket into it from dicksmith eleces. then on the L bracket i put the holden phone holder on it by glueing it to the bracket with shelleys araldite

:spew: :spew: :spew: :spew: :spew:

put those neons off!!!!

BTW:what kind of Holden is it? a VT/VT II Berlina? would be my guess as it has a holden steering wheel without radio controls and single zone climate

have I told you to put the neons off?

If you don't mind me asking, is it actually a LS1?

now put the neons off:yup:

Did you change the colour of the climate control buttons at all?

I am attempting to change them to blue at the moment and am having very little luck because of the green tinge in the plastic they are made from.
