were they modified performance wise like the SS and others cop, or are they just standard, run of the mill red CV8's that used to have stickers and christmas lights on them?

There are a total of 10, so at least 8 more to go to auction yet through
the state.

Gold Coast still has theirs active, Ipswich one was at Willowbank this weekend, but there are still others out there as people say.

And yes, they are all standard engine-wise, some subtle changes to other functions for police use.

Based on the prices that Qld Police purchased the cars for, they have made a profit from the Monaros.

Beattie and his cronies have been underfunding them for ages, so they need to get coin from somewhere

They would have paid around $39,ooo for them I reckon - remember they pay no sales tax. They do a fair bit of work to them in terms of repairs etc before selling them but yeah they have made a nice $

But theres VZ's that have done less kms that are for sale for around $50-$55 that are far better cars. I think somebody got carried away paying $49000 for an ex- cop car

They must have had a 'one off' deal with Holden - I know that the Monaro was never available in the NSW statefleet purchasing or else I would have had one :(

Holden made QLD a deal "that they couldn't refuse" on 10 Monaros.

Sales tax? No such thing now with the GST!

Sales tax used to be almost 1/4 the cost of a car but working backwards from retail price you only subtract 1/11 to get the ex-GST price. No way that's going to get you to $39,000!!

No doubt Holden did a deal to get such high visibility cars on the road, but whatever the deal was GST exempt would only have saved them $6,000 or less.

Sorry I meant GST - I still call it Government Sales Tax, lol. Governmnet contract pricing on say a Calais is pretty close to what they would have paid. Government pricing is thousands under what even a dealer pays for a car. So I am quite sure they have made a NICE profit on these cars

I dont know about QLD, but (and deliberately not getting into specifics) there are different discounts rates depending on the type of vehicle

Ie: stato/caprice/calais > rest of the range > adventra

so there is no real way of knowing what discount the monaro's got, unless you were involved in the deal

I think that Alister's post may have some siginificant merit to it, should you stop and think about it. ;)

As for BT1 pack, they went out with the VS1s. Last I knew it was 9C1 or similar, in a vehicle that was the "Aust-spec" V8 police pursuit vehicle.

Cheers,

Macca

Yeah, I read that quote in a newspaper article when QLD police first purchased them. Someone from QLD Police said that from memory

...another reason why the NSW State Government sucks ass - approx 6 months ago, they took V8's off the list as well... (except emergency services and 'ministerial duty') I just snuck my last SV8 through before they took them off. Apparently 'modern 6 cylinder engine technology' means that they have the power of a V8! maybe a 10 year old V8 anyway

They didnt take XR6 turbo's off so I may have to cross the line for my next sedan, unless an SV6T comes out :bounce:
