Hi guys i just need all of your help.

i recently bought a VX 6cyl Auto, and i am not happy with the auto trans. it feels like the power delivery is late, and when i'm in the highway cruising nicely, when i put my foot down i can fell vibration on the pedals and under the car. It feels like it's slipping.

i never had an auto car before. i recently sold my VU SS ute, and i'm used to it's power.

Questions.
1. is it normal to have a late power kicking in?
2. Vibration when accelerating at high speed on low rev normal?
3. does this mean my trans is gone?
4. if it is, how hard is it to convert it to 6spd manual?
5. what gear box will suit it? VU? VX? of an SS
6. if not how much does a decent trans go for?
7. should i bother with the whole auto to manual idea?

thanks all any help will be good
jeff

pretty much normal for the V6 auto

Our VS exec does is, my VX does it. It'll also clunk and carry on. I tend to let the trans shift to second before I boot it otherwise it'll clunk quite heavily into second and the engine will scream its little head off.

Its not worth having work done on it. We had work done on our VS which cost $1500 by the time they finished with it because it was grinding and carrying on under load when towing (after quoting $800) and its never been the same, in fact its far worse ... then we were told the VS box isnt the best for towing with anyway thus why we went and brought an Adventra.

The only holden auto ive ever driven that doesnt feel like this is the SV6 or the Adventra but they have new boxes.

So basically sounds like youve got a normal box there, and yes theres a huge difference between the SS and V6 box

I think your just used to the 6 speed V8 mate. it'll take time.

Normal.

Late power delivery is just "torque management". Vibration prior to kickdown at high speed is the TQ just before unlocking outta 4th gear lockup.

Refined they ain't.
