Well can you believe it. After taking the coupe to Tasmania and doing the targa this year (car 67) and having a blast - for those interested read the article in the HSV qld magazine next month it finally happened.

Thanks to rain in Brissy (first time in months) and an oil spill on the road near the ipswich road roundabout the coupe has had some minor panel adjustment. Ok not minor but cosmetic in the main. I guess I am gald I am in the insurance game and know some very good panel beaters. Whilst being repairer it will be time to play with it. (same as you Nick). Could have cried but well it is only metal and can be repaired (if not its less than 2 years old so time for a new one !)

By the way was reading the thread before where it said a fellow had taken a coupe 4 for a spin and it drove better with the traction control off. Mate not too sure what you are driving but you cant turn off the traction on a coupe 4 !

I take it this had a manual conversion. Any more info I can find out about this car? Sounds special!

I guess the car-bra did the trick at Targa, because I can't see any chips in your front bar :errr:

Use this as an excuse to make improvements. Did someone say gen-tt

Nasty looking accident. Hope it gets fixed up good as new, bloke. The left wheel looks like it is hanging out a bit, is that just because the flare is missing?

Did you need to make any modifications to run in Targa? Did you need a CAMS license?

Lucky you had the car bra on so you got no stone chips at least.:stick:

in answer to the questions, yes i did need a cams licence L2S the cost all up inc transport doen etc would have been just shy of $ 15k and worth every cent.

In so far as the damage is concerned it could have been far worse. The car hit oil / diesel (3 cars at same place this weekend). The damage is front bar, front ps guard, ground effects both sides, all 4 wheels, flairs on ps. Motor starts etc. The big issue for me is the suspension. In a way its quite good because the bushes etc will end up being changed. The front p/s wheel sheered off in the accident at the bolts which is again good in a way because it limited the damage. The inpack was on the side guard and under the front and believe it or not does not appear that bad. We will have a better idea when it is striped on tuesday, I'll keep you informed. Ironic really, I have oredered a new car and this was coming off the road in July and just going to be used for drive days / targa next tyear and weekends

mr coupe4,

I don't know what to say... I love my HSV and if something like that happened to it I think that I would cry myself to sleep!

But in saying that I am glad that you car ok as cars are repairable.

Living in Tassie has tempted me to take the GTS in Targa, only problem is insurance and expensive entry fees. Glad to see you enjoyed Targa and I hope to see you back next year. If you do make sure that you post up that you are going and I will come down and say hi!

Why do you perceive it has been converted to manual? Where has the owner said it has? Where does it say that a vehicel must be manual to enter the Targa?

I thought a to have a CAMS certified car you had to have a manual?

Update, well for those interested, chasis fine, front suspension, stuffed ! every panel forward of windscreen being replaced and every wheel and tyre being replaced, wait for it 40 grand of which nearly 32 is spare parts !

Can you believe it. The other issue is how easy do you think spares are for a coupe 4. Give you an idea the PB was telling me today - front ds guard for monaro $ 250 - coupe 4 - $ 900 !

Anway the good news is that all the damage aside from front suspension is cosmetic and every part is being replaced with brand new. Now all i have to do is wait 3 weeks !

Damn I miss the coupe

Nah, Tilleys have raced push button automatic Valiants in Group N for years.

I'd almost put money on it taking a lot longer than 3 weeks. 40k though... ouch. See if you can score the old wheels if they are still ok for track wheels. Worth having a set that you dont mind if they get scratched.
