It was delivered to the dealership last Friday afternoon, and I picked it up the following Saturday morning. Fresh out of the wrappers and off the truck straight to me.

250 miles in one day. You could say I'm enjoying it. Utterly fantastic car, definitely one of the best 2+2 muscle cars ever. You Australians build a damn fine car.

Sadly, there was one sacrifice that had to be made. My pride and joy 1987 Buick Grand National was sold to make room for a new car. It was difficult to get insurance for it as an only car for value, and I didn't want it to be relegated to collecting dust in my garage again. I decided after nine years it was time to part with it and let someone else enjoy it. These are the last snaps of it.

What a difference from the Buick to the GTO. Looks really nice, you'll love driving it.

Congrats on the GTO,
Re: the Buick ,
"It was difficult to get insurance for it as an only car for value"
Looks like a pristine example. I take it that the Buick is not collectable in the U.S.?

Very nice, love the colour of the GTO/monaro. Gotta love going from an auto to a manual too. I want one now
I always wanted one of those grand nationals, im still keen on bringing one to aus, cant be many here if any at all. Hate to know what insurance will be on that down here for an under 25 though, cant be much better thana V8.
Nice garage too!

Great looking car TS and thank you for enjoying our Monaro.
But I have a BIG problem with your treatment of the car: You've done 250 miles in one day with an average speed of 12.9MPH. That is disgraceful. That means it would have taken you 19hrs do do all those 250 miles.
You'd atleast think you could have covered that distance within an hour. :stick:
Enjoy it mate, it's always great fun driving it.
Cheers,
Steve

No, they are highly collectible and very valuable in good condition. Collector/specialty car insurance companies wouldn't touch me since it was my only car. Regular insurance companies were iffy for full coverage on it's value and wanted lots of money to cover it.
If I had a serious claim I'd probably have to fight HARD to get it paid. I decided it was time to let it go and move on to something different. It was a nice car to drive every day and very fast. I miss the turbo sound but the V8 tone helps quite a bit. :)

If it's a second/weekend car for you, it's easy and affordable to get coverage. It would be a highly unique and unusual car in Australia.

All Ill say is Aus gets ripped off something shocking compared to what they sell for in the States, plus it gets a LS2 standard.

I love the gto front bar and grill, but don't like how they left the hand brake on the same side as the aussie car. the gto badge says 5.7 but the sticker on the throttle body says ls2 ???
off the topic whats with no grass on your lawns just gravel? i guess it gives more time driving the new car and less time mowing on weekends.
