my SS got damaged tonight - slipped on black ice, and hit a pole with left rear door....thankfully damage is relatively minor.

the question I have is - will I be able to utilise the funds accumulated in my salary packaging to pay for the excess?

I only ask this as I cannot call the packaging company at this time of night.

I think the only one able to definitely answer would be your salary packaging co. I would be doubtful, but it's possible they may consider it.

well the packaging does say all maintenance and running costs, so I would have thought that insurance excess would be included.

Yes, they normally include:

Fuel
Servicing
Repairs

Just not accessories (eg roof racks, towbars) or "mods". I recently claimed my excess and additional smash repairs under my package.

I can't see you having any problems with that. Make your claim and get the repair work done then send in your invoice from the smash repairers and they should pay you your excess costs. I know of a couple of ppl who hav already done this.
It may come down to who you have the package through. Some companies are cool where others shy away.
Bad news on the bend stuff mate. At least its not to much damage and your ride shouldn't be off the road for to long.

I saw the pics you posted & OOOOPS!- that's going to cost the insurance comppany a bit!

With the car being fairly new the panel shop should quote a new door & not just a skin. It will need to be painted and as it's metallic, the qtr panel and front door will both need to be striped and blended to match the colour. The side skirt will need to be painted and buy the look of one of those photo's the wheel has been scuffed and may need repair. It also looks like the lower dog leg could need some paint and repair.

Thank god for insurance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

July and August are generally the coldest periods - most likely to snow during mid July to mid August

Anyone care to admit who their packaging co's are? Mine (GE Capital Fleet) tell me to go blow myself on those type of repairs.

you have to love an operating lease that allows you 1 at fault accident per year, an excess of $500 for any other at faults during the same year, and the lease payment stops if the car is declared a write off..

there is one lucky person in canberra who wrote an lx6 adventra off with 89kms on the clock after picking it up at commonwealth motors... wonder if he waited another 4 months for his next car or just took one off the second hand list..

I lease through Rhodium (ex-Totalcare). I have to pay out of pocket $440 per claim, but at the end of the FBT year it goes into the pile of other out-of-pocket expenses* of which I get the tax paid back to me.

*Such as car washes, oil, etc. Basically anything car related I've forked out my post-tax dollars on.

another benefit..... as it isn't a novated lease my employer is the one who deals with insurance, and basically with a fleet of approx 25,000 cars they choose to self insure. they do use an insurance company to handle claims, but all at fault expenses are paid by the employer...

yeah it's been so cold that the energy provider for the ACT and Queanbeyan has asked all residents and businesses to voluntarily restrict their use of gas. the pressure in the gas lines has dropped. I'm not sure the energy provider is going to subsidise my electricity usage if I am restricted in using my ducted gas heating.....
