g'day fellas, got myself a vu series 1 gen 3 s pak, but had the engine replaced bout 2 yrs ago, just wonderin where the extra power between vu to vz comes form, guessing computer and boltons like zorst, extractors and intake. so yer is there any internal dif and exactly where does the power come from, also are computers interchangable between say a 300kw ls1 and a 225.

cheers fellas

The incease in power comes from such things like less resticive air intakes, exhausts, and better tunes in the cars PCM.
just to name the simple things.

so internals are all the same untill current ones (excluding ls2), anything like injectors dif? so by rights with air intake, zorst, tune should pull over 300kw out the fly with no drama's?? i will b putting my ute on dyno in a few weeks so find out what its got then.

Mate a trip to one of the sponsor and a decent tune will get you to around that mark.

it is not uncommon these days for a "stocker" to be tuned to ~ 230- 240 rwkw with just a decent cat back exhaust (or without smtimes!)

i wont be heading 2 those places but the tune will be coming shortly, my stepdad owns a subaru shop and are purchasing a dyno shortly so he will be doing the work on it. but the cam ect if i put it in will not come untill company car arrives, with a tune to say 240rwkw, how much fuel economy is being lost with this as i travel about 1000kms a week atm, cheers

mate.. no offence to your step dad.. but if he has never tuned an LS1 before.. and is just getting a dyno.. I sure as hell wouldn't be volunteering my engine as the guinea pig.

Done right.. they will reap great returns.. done wrong.. you may soon be looking for a new engine.

Evening,

Given that you are on the LS1 site and we have several fine tuners etc in Perth, It does seem a little two faced that you want info from this community but are not prepared to use the services of the folk that sponsor the site and keep it running.

It all goes around mate.;)

Conversely, perhaps you may wish to source your support from one of the ricer Subaru forums??:hmmm:

Cheers,

Hogs,:p

he has been tuning for many years just they are getting there own dyno now, its maximum motorsport, you may have heard of it, and itrust him completely as he has been highly involved in all forms of motorsport from working in touring car teams 2 now owning rally prep shop and has done for many years. just cause the sponsers have there name up on the site does not mean i have to use them, they are simply providing me with an option.
i will be sure to let you know on how the tune goes and what power it makes but i have no doubts on if it will be good or not.

just wondering hogs, by saying that it is two faced are you suggesting that anybody who has a stock car and does there own services is being two faces by not taking it to a sponsor? the sponsors have there names on there as advertisment, as if they advertise on a site like this they will get more buisness i assure you that if they werent making profit off of it of it benifiting there buisness the names would not be up there. and what are you suggesting by what goes around comes around, are you not going to give advice because i dont take my car to a sponsor company when i have someone who i trust and will do the tune at a cheaper cost for me.

so if i do some research and ask questions on this site as to what is best for my car, then get the work done at a place convenient to me then i no longer deserve to be a part of this site as i am not supporting the sponsers??
i may have misread what you wrote but it sure did sound that way!

cheers vyssbeast, and also no point raging out other forums and people for their choice of car mate, i have had 2 subaru's both of which would beat my current gen 3 with ease, and i will prob go back to a subaru once im over the tyre churning and v8 phase, just cause u like holdens mate doesnt mean they are the bast car although people on this forum may disagree, but i would have bought a BA over the VU had there not been a large price dif and me not wanting to spend that much money on a car however i chose the VU over the AU for obvious reasons, the AU sre shit. cheers

vutess you clearly have too little knowledge aobut ls1's to be carrying on like you are. do some reading, research etc, and make up your own mind.

noone is saying ls'1 are the best, or anything is the best.

if you are GENUINELY interested in the best result from your gen3, i would be taking it to delco in perth, the sponsor, who compared to your uncle, regardless of what hes done in the past, has many thousands of hours of experience tuning any number and type of gen3 and is proven to know what hes doing in the field of gen3's, on top of whatever else he does.

anyway, it would seem you are set in your views, so frankly id suggest going back to subaru, your uncles area of expertise, becuase you obviously dont like the LS1 and have bought it on a price point.

With just a tune, K&N pod, larger MAF pipe and Diff gear change, to my A4, not only did i get more performance, but the fuel consumpution dropped as well. good luck with yours.http://s80.photobucket.com/albums/j173/tcbinc/th_warmemup.jpg

just a heads up.

The computer management systems are totally different between the GM and Subaru. Ecutek wont work.

Good luck with it. The only way I see you being successful is that your step dad isn't related to you.
You're an idiot.

Someone lock this thread, its making the general populace dumber.
