hey peoples jsut wondering whether anyone can give me some insite into why some fuses keep blowing in my car, i have been putting the correct size in, but have now decided to go 5 amps up to try and prevent it in the short term. the fuse that keeps blowing :cussing: the most is the power window fuse which is a pain in the ass when ur down the street and go to put the windows up when ur parked and they wont go up, am now carrying around an array of fuses in my glovebox for safety anyone got any ideas:hmmm:

don't know much about car electrical but fuses blow if there is a short circuit.
if you put a higher current value fuse you can melt your wiring.

Fuse blowing means either a short circuit or the device is drawing too much current.
Is it just when you activate one particular window or any window?
Does the fuse blow as soon as you push the power window switch? This suggests maybe a short circuit somewhere.
Or does it blow while the window starts going up? This suggests the motor is drawing too much current at that time. This may happen if your windows also go up/down slowly - do they?
This used to happen on my VH SL/E esp. in winter and would trip the circuit breaker. Couldn't fix those windows - jsut too old. But, as in another recent thread here, try using graphite lube or silicon spray on your window guides.

I thought they used a plug in circuit breaker instead of a fuse for this very reason. I'd check with your dealer if you have a fuse in there, as the initial crank of the motor excedes the fuse capacity, then stabilises under that amp rating. I know my old VR had a plug in circuit breaker.

hey peoples just an update on my situation went and bought a couple of packs of fuses in the sizes i need. the power window fuse is the one that keeps blowing:doh: it seem to happen when u put the windows down then put them up then turn the car off then back off and its blown i find it weird, it seems to only happen in a short period of time so nearly every time i turn my car on it blows this fuse, so i think there must be a surge coming from somewhere when i start it up :flamin: , its really starting to annoy me now think it might be a trip to and auto electrician time

Then it sounds like it's the power window switch module itself, or a short somewhere before the module or the fuse! Good luck...;)

Still think you should have a $20 plug in circuit breaker that self resets, not a fuse.
