How long for demerit points to be added to your account?

I copped a small speeding fine a couple of weeks ago (only $75!!) and since it was clearly my own stupid fault I simply jumped on the web and paid it when I got to the office. Fast forward 2 weeks and I check the RTA (yes, in the same state) web site showing points balance, and I find I have NO demerit points. How long would they take to process them? Surely not 2 weeks, considering they had captured the fine electronically by the time I paid it, I used an automated payment system, and didn't contest the issue?

over in wa you can get fined for speeding but not loose points. possibly the same thing for you?

I've had occasions where it's taken six to eight weeks to show on the website.

not sure how long they take to show up on the web, but they seem to take months after the anniversary date to give them back!!!

I think it's 3 years in NSW. I just used the www.rta.nsw.gov.au website and followed it through.

Hopefully they'll never show up ....yeah right, knowing my luck.:xmas:

Little tip - if you only have a few points left and are due to recieve some back after the 3 year period, hold off until you get the points back before paying because they only get taken off your license after you pay.

I've found it's taken from a few weeks to a few months, depends what their quota of donuts they've had to get through in that period is.

deffinatly 3 years in nsw. i lost 3 points in dec 03 and thought that i get them back in dec 05 (two years) 6 months went by and i rang the RTA to see what the problem was and low and behold i looked very stupid when they told me points are lost 4 3 years!!! :doh: :weirdo:
