Hey Guys,

I just got myself a K&N filter for the thunder... I was stuffin round with the airbox after I put it in and pulled the right angled snorkel out of the airbox and went for a spin. Man was it loud! I couldn't believe how much of a difference it made. It sounded deep and throaty but sounded a bit crappy higher up the revs.

The filter made a small amount of difference, little bit more responsive maybe a little more power. Hard to tell without giving it a few more bursts. Will have to look at doing the 2nd hole mod or getting the monaro box.

Anyway some useless info for ya!

Cheers

Yeah good mate, I would suggest searching the topic. There's plenty of stuff on here that you can look through.

A lot of guys are putting a 2nd hole in their airbox which can be done VERY cheaply.

It depends on how much you want to spend etc. If you're happy to spend $400 - $500 have a look at the SS inductions Growler Kit. Not sure how good they are but a few guys have had good results. Just steer away from the big mouth stuff.

Edit: Oh yeah and the OTRCAI. (Joffa)

steer away from ss inductions stuff, you'll get way better results with a proper air intake for the same money. do a search on ss reductions and you'll find out why.

cheers.

I've just put the Monaro cold air intake & put the 2nd hole in (scrapped snorkel) & what a difference in sound it makes in my VZ SS ute.Standard exhaust still. Sounds great when you give it some. Can't wait to do the exhaust.

Stay away from SS reductions unless you want a reduction in performance.

I used a custom Pod filter and heatshield setup from F1 performance and then went to an OTR. In all honesty i though the pod had a much better induction noise. Yes the OTR gained an extra kw or 2 but the noise from the pod was sensational!

the issue concerning a second hole into the air box i was just wondering where exactly do you actually place this second hole onto the airbox.
