View Full Version : Parking at Sydney Airport?

We're thinking of going up to the Gold Coast for a holiday on a package deal that includes accommodation and airfare. The only problem is the flights are only to and from Sydney, so we'll have to drive up to Sydney from Canberra and leave the car somewhere. Anyone know how safe the long stay parking is at the airport? I'd kind of prefer the car to be in one piece when we got back. :)

Have left the SS at the long stay in Sydney a few times over the past years.

It's always packed, but there's plenty of spaces. It's a huge, flat open area, not a multi-level carpark.

There is a free shuttle bus that does the rounds every 15 minutes and picks you up from several stations in the carpark and takes you to the terminals. The reverse applies when you arrive back at the airport.

When you leave you can pay with cash or credit card and it's almost 24x7, so it's easy and convenient.

As to safety, well, you take your chances. No safer or more dangerous than any old carpark anywhere I guess.

I had no issues with leaving the Red SS in the long term parking for about a week over Easter last year.

I always use this mob, its under cover, some one always there, you can pre book and the shuttle bus is an on demand thing, you ring they come. Its the old Ansett valet parking building

the ParknFly on the corner of Botany Rd (at rail crossing) is handy
but they charge you per calender day not 24 hr period
i.e. you could drop off your car Fri night 10pm and pick it up Sat 8am (not even 24hrs) & they will charge you for 2 days

Why not hire a car to drive up/back? That's what I always do when flying out of Sydney. For under $100 each way including petrol, hire a car, drop it off at the airport and hop on the plane without worrying about your car while you're away.

Tried em all.... Park n Fly get my vote. Unbeatable valet service, undercover, secure etc etc.

I've gone with ParknFly before and they're pretty sweet. heaps close to the airport and not as pricey -- and their shuttle service hasn't failed us yet!

Not had a problem with my car in the long term domestic or international the several times I've used it. Had my car parked for several weeks - the only problem was it being covered in jet fuel.

Left my SS at the Sydney Airport long stay for two weeks when we went to the USA and no dramas whatsoever. You're supposed to park in the open air bit unless it's full when you get there and then you can park in the multi-storey, undercover.

Naturally, on the day I arrived, the open area was full, just as it will be the day you turn up to park there as well, and you will also have no choice but to park undercover...

Pronto Valet for the short trips. And when you pull up you can tell them you want to park it yourself. They just hang on to the keys and all there spots are undercover. The last time my car was parked between a maserati and a ferrari. Gotta say the holden was the sexiest :D Only $8 extra then the normal park'n'fly fee of $48 per calendar day (short stay)

If travelling with 4 or 5 mates, (and travelling qantas) I recommend qantas valet. You literally walk metres to check in and when you split the bill its not that much more expensive than other parking.

As a long time user of the Long Term Car Park, be careful of parking there. I only take my Clubsport when I have no choice as I have seen a few HSV, FPV and other types of cars with no wheels sitting on phonebooks. It is a supermarket full of cars. It is also expensive and the bus runs when it wants too, not every 15 minutes.
If you think car parking is expensive at Sydney airport try parking a light plane. A 5 ton airplane is about $200 an hour with the new chargers they are bringing in.

Last time I drove to Sydney to fly to the Gold Coast I stayed at one of the motels near the airport and left the car there for the week. worked out well, and got the shuttle to the terminal each way.

There is a couple on the Princes Highway around Wolli Creek which have free shuttles etc . Alot of the caryards have converted to parking yards around near Suttons Holden .Infact Parkside Autos which most Sydney people would know for years as the HDT/HSV yard has now closed and is now a park n fly.

First time I used Park'n'fly it was $9 per calendar day - apparently it has gone up heaps. Qantas valet was great when work was paying - literally drop and walk into the terminal.

I've never had a problem with long term especially if you are on a real early flight, as park'n'fly didn't open until 6am. Can you put a car cover on it?

Otherwise find a LS1 member that lives close to Mascot and get a cab for $10 bucks - I'm sure mates rates - a slab - would cover it!

Come on blokes - lend a LS1 member a hand...

Not sure they operate under that brand name but I tell 'em I'm a good customer and my car always gets undercover. All good and you know its family owned and they appreciate you love your car.
