I went and got a mcai from Holden today and came home to do the little mod, I pulled everything off and notice there is already a mcai sitting there. I pulled the airbox out and it already has two holes. The original 90mm hole and a 70mm hole next to it, however the 90mm hole is not connected to anything either is the 70mm hole. The 70mm doesn't even have a 70mm pipe going threw it, it was just cut and left there.
I have looked threw this thread http://www.holnet.net/images/cars/ls1/ss/cai/ and on part: 10-AirboxRemoved.jpg I notice when he removed the air box there is a pipe at the bottom and I don't have that. Also the pipe that comes from the engine into the airbox the thing that holds the airbox and pipe tight together was on wrong. I notice it said point this way towards air cleaner and it was pointing the other way.
Help Needed Please.
Cheers,
Dane.
just join the mcai to the airbox with pipe & away you go,you should've got the larger pipe with the mcai but may need a trip to bunnings for the smaller pipe

I have joined the mcai to the airbox but both holes the 90mm and the 70mm just suck air from behind the headlight, and in the picture I have noted I see another pipe that seems to lead somewhere? Also I have not noticed any induction noise though I still need to buy a k&n air filter if that will make any difference in noise (I need to buy one anyway as my original is dirt)
Cheers,
Dane.
It's supposed to suck from behind the headlight.Sounds like the 2 factory pipes have already been removed so you won't hear any extra induction noise with the mcai

Well is there anyway of me to get the extra induction noise, like make two pipes where the factorys once use to go? or there's no point?
get an otrcai, this should give more than enough induction noise

Funny you say that as I just read a few threads saying it's a waste of money, advice taking.

Yeah I have done the second hole exactly the same as that, though I don't have a k&n air filter and I don't really hear any induction noise. Though the car had a mcai with a 2nd hole mod from the day I bought it (though it didn't have the 70mm width pipe going threw the 2nd hole, I have put the pipe threw) so I wouldn't here any difference anyway. My air filter is dirty though I blew all the crap and dust out of it but it's still brownish and the rubber seal's around the filter are broken so I need a new air filter anyway. But is it really worth the $70-$80 extra compared to a original and do you really think a k&n air filter is going to give me the induction roar under wot? It might be already but I can't hear it over the engine reving it guts out and the nice exhaust note I have blasting out from behind the car. Also up above in the previous post from JT he states since my two factory pipes from behind the headlight have been removed I will not hear any extra induction noise with the mcai.

If you are going to sell the car in a month or two why would you spend more money than you have to on a filter??? Just get a standard one...:sux:

:fewl: Maybe because I can take it out and put it on my new car when I get it? But yeah im not really going to bother wasting $120 when I can put that elsewhere like a full detail.

Dane.
