On a stock manual gen3, pickup between 30-45rwkw. For $1500. You get 300kw maff pipe, throttle body mods, 2hole air box mod with mcai, mild steel performance catback with nice chrome tips and a VCM Suite PCM tune. This can be done in a day and a courtesy vehicle is available.

Remember guys this price is for MAFF Tune with redback cat back. It is an entry level package aimed at customers wanting a little extra noise with generous power gains.

I have a stock 230kw VZ Calais with an auto. What could you do for me for around $2k?

Also, I am not in Melbourne, but will be there in 3 weeks with the car!

Cheers

Goodaye David. With your nice Calais, we would use a D/F cat back, retain the maff but with air box mods (all as per above thread) and give her some new spark plugs with 10mm leads. PM me for any other needs. Cheers Chev

firstly chev that's a great entry level price, and secondly what plugs do you recommend and is there a real gain going to 10mm leads.

thanks
Neil

Goodaye Neil. Sorry for the delay. We only use NGK spark plugs. Haven't had any issues over the last 20 years. Can't say if the leads alone give any gain in HP but they sure smooth out the engine considerably.

thanks for the quick response chev, I've been using the NGK since I got the car early last year with no problems. What brand of lead do you generally use?

G'day Chev,

I have just purchased a VX SS II M6. I was told to jump on and have a look at the deal that you have, sounds very good.

With the exhaust is it a twin system? You've probably been asked this hundreds of times but what is the sound like with the exhaust? I recently had a VS Calais 5 litre before the SS and I hate how quiet the SS is. I am after a really nice note.

Also with the items listed will affect my fuel consumption much? I do around 120kms to work and back everyday, just though id ask.

If I am looking at getting it done how much time would you need for me to book it in for say next Tuesday? I'll be coming from up near Kilmore, so what time would you need it there by?

Thanks for your time.
Mark

Hi Mark,
It is a twin system we use, yes it does have a good note without being too agressive. Your fuel consumption will improve. We would need the car Monday night to fit the Lambda plugs, we will need the car the full day
tuesday to complete the work.
Chev.

Thanks for the quick response.

I will have to get back to you because if I drop the car off on monday I will have no way to get home on the monday or to get back down on the Tuesday.

Cheers.

Thanks Chev,

Got your PM but am unable to send them.

Is there any extra charge for the courtesy car?

The only thing that I am incertain of the is sound that the exhaust will give, like I really want that in your face rumble, kinda like the 5 litre sound, not sure if this can be achieved.

Cheers,
Mark

Hi chev,

Recently picked up a VY1 Clubsport, totally stock right now, can you tell me a bit more about this PCM tune? Have you applied this deal to a VY1 Clubby yet, if so what sort of gains?

Thanks heaps,

Chris

Howdy Chris. As your clubby is a 260fwkw engine, similar gains are achievable but with a free flowing exhaust than you have at present. Call in for a base power run and will fit 2 tuning plugs into exhaust. Cheers Chev

Unfortunately I'm in North Vic so can't just "drop in" :( I'm not going to be doing much in the way of "power mods" just yet but am thinking of just whacking on a redback 2.5" cat-back as the local bloke up here is a distributor and does a pretty good deal on redback products. I'm booked in for a dyno run to baseline it stock standard Saturday week and hope to go from there. I want to avoid doing mods that are going to hinder any efforts later on down the track though hence the questions. I've hung around here a fair bit before purchasing the Clubby and there are always conflicting opinions about what to do and what not to do which makes it fun decyphering the good information from the bad (if there is such a thing on this forum) :D

Crusty. If you want to tune her on the "local blokes" dyno after the exhaust is fitted, ask him to fit some oxy sensor plugs before the cats and I will come up there to tune her. (my clubby needs a good run). Cheers Chev

Hey, what are the oxy sensor plugs? If I had the money right now I'd take you up on your offer but it's just a bit of research at the moment.

The oxy sensor plugs (tuning lambda) are there for the wideband sensor to be fitted whilst tuning. On a standard exhaust system, I have found a considerable difference in air/fuel ratios between the exhaust tailpipe and the engine pipe before the cats. We can tune live (VCM Suite) with the wideband sensor connected. Keep researching Crusty as this is a fantastic forum for helpful information. Cheers Chev

Hi Chev, this question is worth a try. Do you know of antone in Wollongong that might be able to do an exaust on my series 2 WH statesman. I'm just after a nice note without any droning heard from the inside...cheers mate..

Howdy bigunit340. I'm sure there would be some good custom exhaust fitters up in Wollongong. If not give Darren at Difilippo exhaust a call. He would be able to courier an exhaust section to you. Cheers Chev
