would def go with the sureflo option. Lukey used to be ok i believe, then Walker bought them out and went to crud...then Walker re-instated the lukey name i believe....i dunno, just go with the cheaper and better option

SilverSS, if you just want it to sound like a V8 do you really need a 3" catback?

Not sure what other mods you have? But a good twin 2.5" will more than do the job.

I have a Redback system & love it, not to loud at idle, but crack the throttle & hear it roar! Definately no drone. For $550 fitted you can't go wrong.

Made 225rwkw on the dyno to boot.

Just my 2c worth.

Had a couple of different systems on my Monaro including a 3" cat back, but would not recommend this. Did not sound that good and droned quite alot. Recently got a 2.5" twin cat back system on my VZ SS from Sureflow. Much better sound and absolutely no drone at any speed. Only critisism is that is a little too quiet at idle, but sounds great when I give it a boot-full. The guys at Sureflow will do a system to suit you, louder or queiter depending on what you want. They have an "X" pipe that appears to be larger than on most other systems, this may be what makes the difference with stopping the droning?
Cheers.

I had a Lukey 3" on my VYI SV8 and it actually sounded quite good - deep and distinctive. Gave a real "wumph" when started. Sounded better than my current 2.5" twin (supposedly DF but now I'm not 100% sure) before I put extractors on it. They guy I swapped systems with (Lukey for DF as he wanted a single system because of something he was going to do) had extractors on his car and the Lukey sounded awesome on it when he accelerated hard.

However, you should not pay anywhere near $650 for one.

Personally, I'd avoid Walker/Lukey exhausts at all cost. We deal them at work.. Their mufflers are cheap shit. They rust out very quickly and end up sounding like crap.

Sureflow is the way to go for a fairly cheap system. Personally I prefer a twin 2.5" over a single 3" or 3.5", but it depends what floats your boat.. Either way you go, dont get a Lukey.. You'll kick yourself for it in the future.

Hey guys(my first post), I have a VY SV8 with a Lukey 3" single cat. back system on it. It has a nice note at start up and at idle it sounds nice too, put your foot in the loud pedal and I reckon it has a pretty nice sound, nothing startling, but it's nice. There is a drone factor, and in my car it's at that speed that you do around town mostly..60k's to 80k's..before and after that it's not too bad. At $650 bucks for a Lukey one I think thats too steep, mine was nowhere near that. Having said all that I am about to contact sureflow and go with a 3.5" single system for that bit of (hopefully) extra noise. If ya gonna have a V8 it might as well sound like one!! Cheers..

My understanding is that a 3" pipe would be too big at the cat end of the pipe, no? If you want to maintain gas speed then you need to reduce the size of the pipe as it cools. So larger diameter at the header end (3") and smaller towards the rear (2.5"). Has anyone actually tested this?
