Guys,

Can anyone please tell me where exactly the washer pump is & if it is hard to get to. It needs to be changed.

I have a SS so the washer bottle is behind the battery.

Lives obviously at the bottom of the tank. Acessible from under the front bar, may need to jack the front right corner to get enough room to get your arm up and under there (use an axle stand).

Washer pump just pulls out, it's fitted thru a rubber grommet, pull the pump out, take off plug and hose and fit new one. No tools needed.

Unless you can't hear the pump/motor operating at all it may be worth pulling out for a quick inspection.

My pump used to operate but the water spraying from the jets gradually went from a reasonable stream to nothing over the course of a few months.

After pulling the pump out I found a slimey substance blocking the fine holes in the rubber filter attached to the pump. I cleaned it up and flushed the bottle a few times with the hose and it was better than when new.

I am not sure where the slimey subsance came from though???

Thanks BAD355,

I can hear the pump going, but no water is shooting out on the windscreen. I'm thinking there maybe a blockage somewhere or that the pump is just about stuffed...
The slimey substance could be the bacteria in the water being left in the bottle for so long at a time?

Sounds like the same prob as mine Justin...

I initially thought it may have been from the Holden washer additive that I use, or maybe there was some buildup already in the bottle when the car was built?

You should be able to remove the pump without jacking the car up or removing any wheels. I just did it on my front lawn, not sure if I had to crank the steering on full lock lock or not, but it was only a 5 min job.

Let me know how you go, or if you need some more help...

Cheers

I had a similar problem with my vx. I could hear the pump but there was no water comming out of the jets.

Mine was a blockage in the jets that are on the bonnet. If you disconnect the little tubes running to them, you can twist and remove the jets from the bonnet. I then got a compressor and blew the jets out. Put it all back together and now they work fine.

Simple way to check if its just the jets, is to remove the tubes from the jets and then get someone to turn it on as if they were spraying the windscreen. If water still comes out of the tubes, you know its just the jets that need cleaning, otherwise your going to have to look further back for a blockage or for one in the pump.

Finally got round to the windscreen washer pump.

Piece of piss to do, removed the pump & pulled the rubber gromet out & cleaned the bitch, was pretty bloody blocked up. No wonder why no water was being pissed up on the windscreen!

Thanks to all who helped:wave:

Justin.

It was like a black sludge or slime, so i wiped it on my white t-shirt. My mum was happy, called me a little shit.
I just rinsed the gromet under water & bob's your aunty. Might shove the hose down there & rinse that out properly!
