I love the mesh, deep dish design (which is why I went for some Speedy Cheetahs just recently). Can't go wrong. They also are a design that simply never goes out of fashion.

SSASSC1, I like 'em - good for something different anyway. Will suit a white VY SS very nicely. Before you buy though, you should post up a pic of your SS and get someone to photoshop those wheels on to it to give you a closer idea of how it'd look.

Those rims look tough on white cars, especially with the dish on it, if your selling the SS rims, PM me, i know someone who may be interested in em

Thx for the reply fellas :)

Gatecrasher - Thats a great idea on doing a photoshop image of the rims over my existing wheels. Only problem is that as much as I try I dunno know how to post pics on the forum
Here is a link to a pic of my car -

That looks nice mate - really like the ride height. What Springs/Shocks set-up have you got in it to get it that low?

I just got Adobe Photshop on my PC a couple of weeks ago, so am still a novice with the application. But will see if I can get those wheels to fit up on ya car. Will post up the pic once I've done it (don't expect it to look perfect!).

Another set of rims that I reckon would look mint on your car are the VY Senator Signature rims. Bit more expensive, but I have seen them selling for around $2.5k second hand with good tread.

Cheers

I think the rims you had the link to would look good mate.
The chrome lip style that is 'in' at the moment gives cars a race inspired feel rather than a bling factor feel. Wouldnt want to have to clean them with that many spokes though... but if ur up for the extra cleaning time then it would be worth your while. :headbang:

Springs are Lovell ultra lows and yes those VY senator rims are AWESOME. Kinda want to stick to 18s though as the roads around Adelaide are absolutely SHITHO_SE ( worse than a goat track in places ) !! I think 19s on Lovells would too harsh.....

BJ4D - Cleaning would be more work mate...oh well hehe

Funny, when I read your ute is a "vy ss which is white in colour", an image of those exact rims flashed through my head.

So I guess it's fair to say "good choice"

;)

Cheers.

Just be careful dealing with Tempe when buying stuff from them over the net. If you are in Sydney then its not such a gamble as you can see what you are getting.

Apparently a lot of there wheels are slightly defective (finish, etc), hence the good prices they do. I found out the hard way even after reading about other people complaining about them on the net.

On the set that I got for my Monaro all four wheels had a different colour silver finish (some looked faded) and 3/4 had stains (looked like brake fluid had run down throught the centre/stud holes). There was only one good wheel out of the four IMO. In the sun they all looked a slightly different colour. After many emails and phone calls they finally agreed to replace the worst wheel............ with one that was not a hell of a lot better :banghead: Their after sales service is crap so pray you dont need it.

They also did not balance any of the wheels (at all - no weights) when it was supposed to be part of the package. All they could offer was a local Perth wheel/tyre shop who deals with them a lot to do it for me when they swapped the dodgy wheel over. As they were getting other stuff sent over and back I didnt have to pay any freight... yay. :shiner:

I still had to pay out of my own pocket to have the new wheel fitted and balanced + the others balanced

Farrk !!! Yes, that could be a problem buying over the boarder. Maybe I should try a local tyre shop. That way at least I get to see what gets exactly put on my car before I buy. Any quality issues can be better addressed locally rather than having a interstate dog fight. Hmmmm..... Thx for the tip Rick76 :)

Which is why I didn't buy those wheels and went for the Speedys. Some people have had good experiences with them but I have also heard some worrying "stories".

Ok SSASSC1, tried my best for ya... might give you a better idea. Looks a bit 'white' around the edge of the rim, but I think that's just the pic. They scrub up alright though hey.

Dave - Jeezuss..Good job on the photo shop.....

Those senator rims do look good. Very nice option indeed. Thx heaps for showing me the light !!!

Certainly better option than a set of the "chrome crappy" wheels which seem to be very popular nowdays...

pictures can replace a thousand words! ;)

Imo, these rims suit just about any car! and have a mix between sports and class!.. i've always though the SS models were suited better to the sports style of rims.. most utes do suit the more blinged chrome though for some reason..

good luck with which ever you choose!

I think those rims would look awesome!

Couple of hints though:
- if you have the cash, go for 19's
- I had similar rims on my old car, and found they were a bitch to clean
- hve you thought about having the spokes on those rims painted a dark/gunmetal grey? Would look nice against the white car and would be something unique as well.

Just a few of my thoughts... (c:

Those dark would look great! But chromed, they seem to suit a silver car.

I did it again, but toned down the brightness.

http://img58.imageshack.us/img58/4716/normal8wl.th.jpg (http://img58.imageshack.us/my.php?image=normal8wl.jpg)

And darker

http://img463.imageshack.us/img463/7216/blackd4vp.th.jpg (http://img463.imageshack.us/my.php?image=blackd4vp.jpg)

Needs to be darker than that, but I already got out of of photoshop, and I couldn't be arsed to save it, so yeah :p

@Gatecrasher need to warp/distort it a bit more to match it to the shape of the tyre :)

The Speedy Cheetahs also come with gloss black centre with chrome lip.. i went for the met gloss silver centre with chrome lip as suits my cars paint.. very close match.. love a car with the mesh style colour coded to the same colour as the car!

I have found some LENSO 19inch rims on Ebay that seem to be a good compromise between all the rims that has been discussed on this thread so far.

The more I view the rims the more I think they will better suit my VY SS. Here is a link to view the rims on Ebay

Very nice, still, i think i prefer the mesh style ones, always had a thing for them, but the lenso rims are tough as well, i just wish i had your car. But, dont forget, interested in the standard rims of yours when you update.

http://www.tempetyres.com.au/products_closeup.asp?part=&part_no=484
fingers crossed they r ok
i had only heard good things about tempe b4 this
its just so cheep compared 2 the prices here, 2 years ago i got quoted $1900 for 17's with rubber 4 my rx7 and they werent anything special

Paulie

I brought my rims through tempe tyres as well - I'm in Perth too.

Found that their customer service is absolute shite! They were very abrubt and it felt like you were holding them up all the time....., although I have been told that they're very busy, so that probably explains it.

I got quoted and paid for a set of 19" Kaotics (9.5" rear) and paid for them straight away. I waited for a few weeks for delivery and rang up to ask what was happening. The guy on the phone said that they don't have any in stock and it would be a while before any came in - I wonder when they were going to tell me that?!?! Also got told that the wide pack does not fit on the VX models either - another important fact that I probably should have been told. Not to mention the $125 I wasted rolling my guards!

Anyway, I ended up buying a set of Heirs which look pretty sweet - much better than the Kaotics I think. They came within the week and all were in good condidtion so I was happy again.

About 3 months later, some tool reversed into me in a car park and dented the right front of my Berlina, along with the rim. Got a new one sent over through my insurance company so that was no worries. Although I found that the finish of the chrome was very dull, as if it hadn't been buffed or something - its probably one of the rereject wheels someones sent back! I use it as my spare wheel now, as the one that was damaged only has a dent the size of half a 10cent piece, so its more than ok (c:

Having said all that though, I'd probably still dgo through Tempe as you cant beat their range and prices - will just be a bit more wary though.

HINT - make sure you know what you want before you ring, as they will be reluctant to help you out.
