When I installed my extractors at an exhaust shop, When the car was first started I noted the engine light was on. The bastard extractor man put it down to a sensor on the passenger side of the car that plugs into the motor just an inch from the extractors being broken. Coincidently just an inch to the left of the extractors you just installed???. (standing at the front of the car looking under the bonnet)

I never had this problem before so I suggested he may have broken it when installing the extractors. He denied it of course. I looked at it and the plactic clip on housing is cracked and it just dangles on. From time to time the engine light goes on and Im immediately under the hood checking that it hasnt fallen off. My question is......

1. what is this sensor/swith for??
2. How much does it cost to replace
3. I have an LS1 mafless edit done so is this a probable cause?
4. Should i go and bang the bastard exhaust guy over the head?

Might be the engine coolant temperature sensor.

Hmm mine did this too after it was edited, then it destroyed both cats within 3 weeks. Then I got new cats and the engine light would come on once inwhile, but after a few weeks again, the light never came on again :)
