Another successful day out at Sam's

Hard luck storey has to go to Chris, arrange a dyno day, drive up from the frozen capital, throw a blower belt whilst cruising up here & then have to leave your car in the car park and watch the award for highest Forced Induction LS-1 leave without him.

Luckily he managed to find a comfy stool at the front desk, found a pen :P and got the list together for all of our cars to have a run. All smooth as silk. We are deffinatley getting the hang of it all now.

Top job mate :yup:

Todd was as his usual best running his dyno. We are lucky to have him there for our Dyno days ( and it was a Sunday too :) ) His talk on the workings of a Dyno, set up and items areas to note was well worth the listen.

Sam was at home in his engine assembly room. Talks were conducted with groups of 10 at a time with regards to cams - what they do - what the numbers mean - and checking for accuracy on the cam gadget guizmo thingy. Getting to see Sam on days like this is very rare. The knowledge he has, and willingly shares, is nothing short of amazing.

Darren was unable to take up his usual position of snoozing in the engine dyno room, Sam was giving a competition 253 holden red motor some runs. We still beleive Darren's snoring would have had the same dB outcome as the motor though :P.

He still managed to vanish for a few hours though .......

I was lucky enough to meet just about every owner. I also got to have a drive of most of the cars there too ( though it was mainly in reverse :( )

There were some very nice rides running around the shop. And a few serious sleepers lurking out there too. It is always fun to watch faces when a stock looking car turns up and then produce some very healthy numbers.

HAVAGO was one of the more serious cars on the day. Dave has spent a hell of a lot of time and effort to get the beast where it is now, all so his wife can drive it around. It is her car after all.

Also a big thanks to the BBQ chefs that smoked out the workshop burning our beloved snags :lmao:

We all hope everyone had a good day out at Sam's, and remember to get those additional mods done before our next one.

Ken

Here are the results, I'm sorry if I got any names or vehicle models wrong.
I don't have the 3 AWD vehicles reults, we can add these later.

Thanks to everybody who helped out, especially Sam's boys who do the tireless stuff like tie the cars down.

It is always interesting to see the vast differences in vehicles that essentially
have the same engine, in the unopened category there was 80RWKW between the highest and lowest.

The result chart should be self explanatory, but if it is too difficult, I listed
the runs from 1 to 3, then average, then the consistency (in kw), then lowest run and finally highest run.

Ah yes like i said in the other thread my day started off bad even before I got to Sam's shop, but what can you do besides sit behind the desk and Salk.

Big thanks goes to Ken for helping me out with the entrants, we make a great team buddy.
Also a big thanks to the guys who dyno'd the cars for use and also took the time to talk to some of the owners who had questions.

Also thanks to all of Sam's boys who also gave up there Sunday to help out as well as young Sam for opening up his shop for the day and pretty much taking the whole day to talk to everyone about everything that they wanted to ask.

And my lovely wife who dropped by to see if I had things under control.

I was really bummed out when I walked into Sam's shop but after talking to everyone and getting great feedback on the day as people were leaving my mood got a heap better.
Thanks to everyone who attended.:)

Thanks to Sam (especially for the touch-up on my tune), Ken, Chris, Darren and everyone else who helped put the day together. The day went really smoothly, the bbq was great. Can't wait for the next one!

(Could we do the AWD cars first next time  )

Hard luck award - We can get one of these ' ferral chihuahua ' stickers for that

Forgot about Sam's 2 sons, Ahmed & Mohamed. Sorry guys.

They put in some huge hours over the weekend as well as doing the jobs that no one else wanted to do. ( joys of being Sam's sons I guess ) Big thanks to them both for their efforts.

oh yeah ... I remember that one, had the Walkinshaw body kit.

He should have come and shown us what his beast could do on a dyno.

There were a few cars that did MUCH better burnouts up the driveway:burnout:

Well Animal has it half right but not completelly...

On the way to Sam's that morning I was driving on the M5 when the pulley from the blower somehow came off.(somehow the bolt worked its way loose)
I was able to find the pulley sitting in the engine bay but it got damaged so I can no longer use it.
But I lost the bolt and key.
Luckily the belt survived.
