I have found Tempe to be one of the cheapest in sydney for supplying/fitting tyres. Also tyres.com is quite cheap sometimes there in sydney as well.

Be careful when buying from Tempe Tyres.

They seem to sell tyres that have the incorrect load rating and not good when the HWY boys see that one and defect you for it.

I would personally like to go to a smaller tyre shop and support them, not to support the owners " other" businesses.

Hi all,

I bought Pirelli Dragons (235/40 x 17's) from Tyre King on Windsor Rd Baulkham Hills. I paid $220 per tyre. Not bad for Pirellis?

I've had one too many experiences with out of round tyres and prefer to buy known big name brand names.

The tyres I had trouble with were an Aussie made big name brand. That was back in the 1980's. I then bought some unknown brand-name imported tyres a few years back for my old VP and had the same problem. Steering wheel shimmy at 100 km/h is not much fun.

Is that opposite North Rocks Road?

How long have you had the Pirellis, and are they OK handling in wet and dry?
Most importantly, are you happy with them?
I always seem to go to Goodyears after the Bridgestones.
Might be time for a change..

Cheers,

Hi Holdendriver,

It's about 200m West of the M2 freeway as you're driving West towards the Bull & Bush.

I've been running on the Pirellis for about 2 months. I fitted two Pirellis up the front end, swapping the las of my Dunlop SP 3000's to the rear. In my opinion, the Pirellis give better turn-in than the Dunlops. It might be argued that the Pirellis are new and the Dunlops are half worn but . . . It seemed to me that the first two Dunlops that I fitted up the front end didn't have the same amount of turn-in as the OEM Bridgestones.

The Pirellis work fine in the wet and dry. I think they feel a bit better in the wet than in the dry. I fitted urathane bushes about a month before the new tyres. Each helped improve steering response. The combination of the two makes the car a lot nicer on the twisty bits.

The only criticisms I have of them is that they seem a bit vague for a poofteenth after turning off centre before then they bight. They may also slightly increase the amount of road feedback to the steering wheel.

$220 per tyre for a brand like Pirelli is great. No doubt the Chinese stuff is forcing the big name brands to get their heads straight. How much are Bridgestones these days?? And how long before we see the big brands opening up shop in China?? And how long will it take China to poach big brand technology and then what?

Thanks PAH,
Know where that is.
By the sounds of it you are quite happy with them, and at $220 a corner it sounds about right to me too.
Will definately check them out when I change mine over, think I have hit 40K on the originals now so won't be long before I have to make a move.

Cheers,
