Well guys, after a lot of R&D we have finally sorted out the belt breaking problem on the whipple chargers. We went to Heathcote yesterday, with Nathans VY, Robs VZ, HQ tonner and my VZ. I drove it to the track with my son in the seat beside me and a set of ET radials in the back. Ive never driven a car on the track with ET radials and my first pass was terrible with a lot of wheel spin. On the next few runs, I was a lot more gentle out of the hole and ran a 10.86 @ 129mph. Not bad considering it had the hard lid on, street diff, and even my sons back pack in the front seat. My ultimate aim for this car would be to run 9's in drag trim, but it's still great to have a 10 second street car.

Do you have any specs on the car? I'm interested in the S/C setup. Congrats on the 10. That must be one awesome machine.

Cheers

What specs do you have? Does that mean its the new highest MPH Radial pass?

EDIT: Nope, just remembered NOMERCY did 137mph on Radials.

The car is running an in house built engine package, standard stroke 5.7, ported heads.
It is running a 3.3L Whipple blower with around 440rwkw. At the LS1 Nationals we were experiencing belt problems, and running full slicks it ran a 10.74. So the plan is, in drag trim, to get this package into the 9's

Hi

Every Whipple supercharger I have seen supplied by Starr have had belt issues, if you have resolved the issue thats a job in itself WELL DONE!

Congrats Micks,

after the black marks you left on the Hume freeway, I thought you might be driving home on the MT street radials due to lack of street rubber

Its a great run - but i dont think i would call ET radials 'full street trim' - they arent legal. I use them and they are great but without them on real street rubber the 60 footer would drop by at least 0.25s and ET by 0.4 or more.

Thats shaving it a bit close. I think you will find most cars that run the quater mile almost always have something that does not comply with vic roads legal criteria.

Im not digging
its not full street trim on illegal tyres.
Anyone can drive around the street on slicks and be just as legal

Well done lads, an exceptional effort, there certainly aren't many genuine 10 second streeters in this country. Best of luck with the 9.

As for Oztrack, mate, give it a break.

The post said street trim not street legal. Its a radial thats legal in the states and has been excepted into the drag community Australia as a street trim item as far as i know? :driving:

The title is full street trim, not roadworthy trim. The tyres are not road legal and I would think my 3.3L Whipple blower and fibreglass bonnet are not road legal either. But because a lot of enthusiastic customers enjoy drag racing with these particular tyres, it was a test to see how far we could push the car with ET radials on it. We are definately going to try and see what the car can do with a street legal tyre. Also we made a point of racing the car without stripping anything off, like the hardlid, rubber mat, passenger seat, full exhaust, even 3/4 of a tank of fuel. So the title is refering to how the car is driven every day, and how our customers would like their cars to perform at the traack and on road.

DRIVE IT THERE, 10.86, DRIVE IT HOME :driving:

3 RID teams and one *Wobbly Wheels* later would help confirm that .....so long as one obeys the golden rule.....leave a smidgen of tread remaining for street duties......eh Mr Darryl :driving:

Nice time Gentlmen

apparantly they are lethal in the wet, even slightly wet, not speaking from experience, I only used mine at the track
