Can I get some feedback please (especially from those in the industry) on the private buying price for a VT2 R8 Clubsport. Details are as follows:
1999 VT2 R8, genuine 18500km, with CAPA VQ2 Supercharger & intercooler, mod plate for install, premium brakes, leather, sunroof, 4 airbags, 19” GTS wheels & tyres plus the original 18’s, with current Rego & RWC. Car is immaculate as you would expect with those kms. Apart from supercharger, car is stock – no other drivetrain or suspension mods.
I saw the one on ebay recently in Adelaide (VT2 Clubbie, CAPA Supercharger, big stereo etc) went for $23100. What would you expect to pay for this R8?.

might be difficult - you have a 8 year old car but with the Km's of a 6 month old car - maybe $25K? given the current shittyness of the secondhand LS1 market
Also you will need some serious proof and a good reason that the km's are genuine - a lot of buyers would be suspicious without using their brain to see that there is next to no wear on the interior etc.

Thanks Stevotski.
Just to clarify, I'm not the seller here but looking to buy this car. Seller was asking around $30k which I think is too high. My thoughts were more around $27-28k, but given current prices of second hand LS1's, is that still too high?
Anybody else care to comment?

Yeh defantely a tad high in my eyes, although with those variables it would be a good buy for 25k

If the K's are definately genuine, then it's worth the $27-$28k!

i would pay high 20's thats very low klms i'd say its deffinately worth that on the other hand you could pick one up with high klms for around 20 and have some play money for mods but if the other one is immaculate and you plan on keeping it that way it's already charged go for it, cause i have seen some pretty used examples out there.

That sounds like a MINT car mate. I know if I were in your position, I'd be very tempted to buy it. There's everything mod on that car I would want to get done to my car!
But I think price wise it's not too bad considering if you were to buy a stock VTR8 with those kinda kms on it, the seller would be asking around the high 20's anyway.
There's a 2000 VT2 R8 (http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!cs_content.private_vehicle?vehicle_id=2826458¤t_rec=9&used_rec=10&total_rec=12&sort_type=&total_rec=12&sort_type=&make_id=81&year_max=2000&km_max=60000) on CarSales that has only done 40,000kms going for $30,500. But whether he'll get that or not is another question.
IMO, I would wait for a few months (weeks at minimum) for the seller to drop his price. Even though it's such a highly modded car, I think it will take a while to move off the market. He won't resort to trading it in, so I would be waiting for it to hit around the $27k mark. Trust me, in time he'll go down a few bucks that's for sure.
Let us know if you decide to purchase. And don't forget to post up those mandatory pics once you do!
Cheers,
Dave
have you talked money at all?
or are you just asking?

HSV_R8, just as a FYI, you might be interested in this VX Clubby advertised in this week's Trading Post... few grand more, but Newer and much nicer looking model:
"...2000 VX Clubsport R8, 6-Speed Manual, Supercharged, 280rwkw, Extractors, New performance clutch, Koni Adjustable Suspension, 19" GTS rims, TV/DVD, 3.9 gears, Slotted brakes, LS1 edit, all options, immac condition, $34000, Ph: (03) 9786-7864, or 0419-133-204, Carrum Downs, VIC..."
No mention of leather or sunroof, and not sure how many kms though.
There's also a VX GTS in the Trading Post selling for $34k as well - in QLD.
Cheers,
Dave
