After all the races had finished at the Qld Raceway, the CAPA Monaro and utes came out to put on a bit of a show. Trying to slow the mad rush to the gates by providing entertainment.
And, man what a show they put on, great car control, but I swear there were times they were close to putting them into the wall on the back straight.
Anyway, at one point while racing closely, one of the utes looped it around with Bolger in the Monaro right on his tail. Heard a lot of tyres squealing and a lot of dust go up, but from my angle couldn't see if the Monaro T-boned the ute or if it just went off road. Regardless, the Monaro then took it easy and straight back to the pits.
I was speaking to John Tetley (Track owner) afterwards and he said the monaro actually T-boned the ute.

Awesome display never the less, and only witnessed by a handful that remained after the last race/presentations.

We were on our way back to the car after the races from the back straight and watched the stunt guys on the way. I saw the incident you mentioned and thought their was going to be a prang. The Monaro appeared to pull up in time and if there was contact, it must of been light cause there didn't appear to be much wrong with the Monaro (panel wise anyway).

Agree with you that it was a pretty awesome display, one of the utes totally shredded a rear tyre!:burnout:

This was Sunday just gone after the V8 Supercar race. Think you've got your events confused.

Not sure about the Monaro.. but was told there was a ute taken to Logan to a smash repairer on Sunday night (from the races)... so possibly the Monro hit it...

But, don't know how true.. none of the people I know that were still there said anything about it... Just that the display was awesome...

There was a little bit of contact but the cars are repaired and on their way to Sydney for the 3rd round of the Drift Australia Series at Eastern Creek this weekend.

The drift ute was at PT in Brendale at 2pm today. No monaro there though.

Was watching it all happen from the grass bank just where the pit wall ends on the front straight and had a good view of the stack, then went to the pits to see the damage. Ute spun out going through that little gully section that is half way up the back straight but going the opposite way to normal (ie was traveling towards turn 2 on the infield section and turn through the "gully" onto the back straight with monaro on his arse). Ute spun, munro look like it was going to pull up but hit drivers side rear quarter and did some damage, not alot but pushed the panel in so that the rear bar was flooting but still in normal position. didn't see monaro.
Sure beet sitting in the car stuck in the traffic!
